Chirping/Grabbin a gear = not all that great.
Ok since i searched and didnt find much in the archived content. Somebody agree with me here. "grabbing or chirping" in a gear isnt all that great. It is actually a loss of traction - at least what i think.
My buddy with b20/vtec and stage 4 clutch thinks he has mad powah.
Yes, he might - but I said his tires are probably arent the greatest and grabbing a gear isnt all that - your actually experiencing a loss of traction.
Someone just say it also cuz he is looking at the screen and i didnt find anything in the content.

Well your buddy prolly does have "mad powah" it just needs to be put to the ground and controlled via tires, suspension etc... Until then he will be losing critical tenths of a sec.
My ls/vtec is the same, takes quite a bit of time for second to grab. In fact, if I punch it in high rpm in first gear, i'll spin there too. It makes me mad sometimes and playing catch up ain't all that fun. I need some street slicks!

if I might pose a question then.
I recal thinking the same as you. However, does anybody have any thoughts of person chirping the tires, versus engagings the clutch softer so that the tires do not spin (I'm talking about 1-2 and from 2-3, not on the intial launch.) If two exactly the same runs occured, one feathering and one chirping, who would win?
My thinking is that skirting is putting all the power to the tires, and it will eventually catch up. But also, when you feather the clutch not to spin the tires, you loose the raw power of the motor. I'm not really sure how this is, I remember there was a despute about this before in another thread, but no certain way really came out the victor. Any ideas?

I understand what he is talking about, but I think he means feather the throttle so you don't chirp, but like he said, you'll prolly start lower in the rpm range and may loose some time????... . I dunno, make a couple runs and tells us your findings
