Default 98- 0023 OWNED by drain pipe

Earlier today while swerving to miss a deer on a dirt road near my house I managed to slide off the road and crack the tranny on a cement drain pipe. I don't know the full damage but its not going anywhere for awhile.

Sorry to hear that, think you're insurance will cover it?
Might be cheaper than having to have had to fix body damage from a deer hit!

Never swerve to avoid any animal smaller than a rhino (maybe a moose - those can be deadly).

Both feet in, lay on the horn, and hope the deer gets out of the way.

sorry bout your car man, Insurance should take care of that for you.

I almost hit a deer TWICE on the same freakin road the other night. they are running rampant around here. Ive had some very close calls and a couple "grazings", but never a direct hit thank god. *knock on wood* you can try not to swerve, but its just natural reaction

It's the rut. Deer are out in force and horny as hell.

Be careful! Slow down a bit on darker roads and in deer country.

I used to have that opinion, until my uncle hit a deer, it came through the windshield, and started kicking him in the face. He was kinda f'ed up for awhile, but is fine now. Sharp, strong deer feet boot to the head? I don't think so...

Yeah, but that's less likely to happen than one hitting something solid while swerving/losing control. I'd much rather hit the deer and take my chances than hit a tree.

One of my brother's high school classmates put himself in the hospital for several months swerving to avoid a cat in the road. As much as I love cats, kitty goes down before I add more danger to the situation.

do those "deer horn" things that you mount on your front bumper actually work?

Cat/bird/any member of the rodent family other than capybara is roadkill, but anything taller than my hood will require at least a moment's thought to consider possible alternate routes around.

Considering I live in the land of deer, I have managed to hit 6 since I got my license. Rule #1.. Never Swerve, always hit.. If you swerve and hit something, it goes under collision. If you hit the animal , its comprehensive. Your insurance is alot more likely to go up from a collision claim...{Void the preceding if its anything heavier than your car }
O.T. My girlfriend hit a giant Doe about a month ago and I had to beat it to death with a Louisville slugger. The cop that showed up 30 min later thought it was cool

i don't think you have a moment to think whether or not to go around. it'll be mainly instinct. my instinct would be to hit the sucker though.
