Default ITR vs. CTR cams/pistons in my GS-R - questions

I've been thinking about getting ITR/CTR cams/pistons for my GS-R sometime early next year (after xmas). I've been reading a lot about the pros and cons but it's hard to remember everything from 34684326 different posts.

can someone break it down for me in this post? an ITR setup vs. a CTR setup. Which would be better for a daily driving setup? I drive about an hour everyday (to and from work).

One of the things I distinctly remember is CTR pistons (i think?) not working well with any octane less than 93. Here is HI we only have 92, 100 in one station but it's $6.12 a gallon.

Thanks in advance.

JDM P30 pistons, JDM ITR if you want the moly coating. Either cams. Get tuned.

P30 as is 92-00 JDM B16A pistons?

Also, are there any other internal mods I should look into or can my stock gs-r parts handle the new cams and pistons fine? I'll probably be picking up ARP rod studs too.

with a gsr i would get ctr cams and p30 (11.6 cr) or pr3(11.3-11.4 cr) pistons. i would get the pr3 to be on the safe side and dont get ctr pistons too high cr
no good for 91 octane.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by B18Chillin &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">thanks. what engine do the PR3 pistons come from? (srry, looking for em on JHP and can't find em).</TD></TR></TABLE>
pr3 is off of all the 160 hp b16's like all the usdm b16's and the first gen(89-91) jdm b16's
p30 is off of the 170hp b16's jdm only (92+)

at what compression would it not run well on 91 octane gas. i was interested in jdm itr pistons and a mugen headgasket that gives me like 11:5 i think is that to high for 91 oct gas. at high altitude also

It is all in the tuning. If the car is tuned properly people have run on over 12:1 compression with no problems on 91 octane. Before you guys get yourselves into something you can't handle, search around your area for reputible dealers first. You can find some at http://www.hondata.com
