Just curious what everone would do different or those who haven't built on, what they would do compared to what they've seen out there. Just curious. Thanks for your time!

i could tell you......but then i would have to kill you. lol.

the rules will be out in a week or so(NHRA). wait till then, read them carefully, then figure out what you can do that is legal. to seriously compete, figure 2300-2400 lbs with you in it, 25-26" slicks, 600-700 hp, and alot of tuning/track time. get the car built asap. we'll see what the rules say.

hmm...what wouldve I done different if I had the chance
1...I wouldve never bought my shortblock from JG back in 2000,poorly cleaned and prepped but hey,I didnt know then and wasnt warned til I got to HT
2...Not taken so damn long to finish it,going on 3 years now, still not done...
3...maybe should have built a B18 92-95 civic or H22 96+ civic but I love my little sohc EF too much

as far as the rules go....Im praying for a FWD only drag radial class like the original sport fwd rules stated but with the proper wieght breaks so all can enjoy whether your N/A or FI....

I would have built the whole cage the first time, not the bar first and then the
front half. I also would have gone chrome molly rather then steel, the extra money
is worth the weight savings.

I wouldn't have listened too so many people on the net and just gone with my gut
feelings concerning weight, engine and trans setup.

I think I DID choose the right combination for the class, next year should tell
me for sure.

I wouldn't have gotten my car stolen when I was 95% done building it the first time..... oh wait, I had no control over that. My car got stolen and stripped in November of last year, just as I was finishing it up and prepping it for the NHRA Pomona finals 2002 (just to run brackets). To answer your question, it's a bit early to tell for me. My car has only been together for one event and I haven't put up any big numbers. I tried to do everything the right way at the beginning- good clutch, good axles, full cage (chromoly). Whether it pays off for me or not only time will tell. My biggest problem right now (aside from lack of time behind the wheel) seems to be weight. There was a lot more I could have done within the rules to lighten the car up. When I first started, I just wanted to build a really fast street car. It just so happened that the Sport FWD and T4 classes came along and my car seemed to fit. I could have run an 11.70 for waaaay less money, but 11.70's aren't my ultimate goal. We'll see next year. I should have all the right stuff to be competitve, I just need to dial it all in and learn to drive it.

Also, any fuel system issues? Stock lines or upgraded?

should of bought 1200 cc injectors instead of the 850's and in hind site although I haven't had any problems I think I should of gone with stage 5 dss axels instead of 3's. Other than that I just need alot more seat time and I am pretty happy with my set up.

edit: big big issue I would of done differently is exhaust. I tried to skimp out and got a crush bent 3" exhaust with a pos flow master muffler. Really stupid.. I am still kicking myself.. but next year will be different

I would have started building my car for this class at the begining of last year instead of after the 2003 season.. My car is almost done now..

I did a lot of planning before I went and spent all this money to build my SFWD EG. I was fortunate enough to buy a car that had a really nice street swap done already. It was a proven 12.60 all motor daily driver car with the correct custom engine mounts to align the H tranny axles right.

I read the NHRA rules pretty thoroughly and built it to the 2004 rules. The only thing about the car I would change is that I should have went with a 96-00 coupe body instead of a hatchback. I really want to run 26" slicks and the stock EG fenders don't have enough clearance. Other than that things have went pretty smooth. The planning paid off and I have a fast reliable car.

I just finally did some shake down passed this weekend at Summer Slam. It was great to get the car out finally!!! I cant really say what I would do different because the car is not tuned or set-up yet... BUT, the one thing I would have done different at this point is have done a full roll cage instead of just the 6 pt. role bar... Thats about all

cut the fenders. cutting fenders is legal as long as they retain a stock appearance.

[edit] btw, this post is so damn old, where did you find it?

My original plans were to build my car for this class. Damn heavy integras! Regradless I have a couple of good buddies who run this class, and from watching them and learning I would say if your setup works, dont change it. You can win this class with consistant driving and 600-650whp.

Damn, this is pretty old...

Theres not much i did in my past car that i would have changed, other then a few minor things...Each setup is different, so its hard to say what is needed and not needed..I was happy the first time around, even tho i should have gone with a newer engine management and a 10 point cage.....thats about it
