Brake leak somewhere...but where the hell is it?
I'm really losing my patience. I've been steadily losing brake fluid in my reservoir for quite some time now, and I recently noticed that brake fluid is leaking from somewhere in the right front and dripping down the rim and onto my tire. I thought it was the piston seal in the caliper so I replaced that, and it's still leking from somewhere in that vicinity, although I can see no visible spot from where its coming from. I checked the lines to see if it's coming from there, yet I see no visible leaks at all. I've had a friend check the lines to see if he sees any fluid leaking when i press the brakes, but nothing. I checked the bleeder valve on the caliper to see if it was loose, and it wasn't at all. I'm losing brake pressure occasionally, and sometimes the pedal goes down pretty damn low, yet as soon as I get going again it's fine and the pressure comes back. i just replaced my master cylinder about 7 months ago, so I know it's not that. That wouldn't cause me to lose brake fluid out of the right front, at least not that I know of. My other friend thinks that my brake cap is leaking and as im driving, it's sloshing around in there and leaking out the top. That wouldn't account for the fluid im seeing dripping out of the front, so that doesn't make sense to me at all either. Does anybody have any kind of idea as to what this could be? I've always had brake problems, and I need to get them fixed, asap. Supposedly CRX's are notorious for having sucky brakes, so has anybody had a similar problem and can point me in the right direction?
the proportioning valve is near the firewall on the passenger side. check there. all brake lines go thru it.
CRX's are known to have GREAT brakes. those who sell brake parts tell you that they suck.

Sounds like you need to pull the wheel off and clean everything in there and look for leaks. It may be that you have a leak at one of the connections for the brake lines and it's running all the way down and dripping onto the wheel. Did you ever switch out your brake lines.. maybe didn't tighten them up properly?

I pulled the wheel off and looked at the brake lines the second I parked my car coming back to work and looked at everything, and it looks like the caliper has some brake fluid on it, but it can't be leaking from the piston seal because it's brand new, we even honed the inside of the piston to make sure there was no debris in it that was causing any leaks, so it's not leaking from there. My thought is maybe possibly it might be leaking from somewhere else and doing exactly what you said; dripping down the line and pooling, but where the hell could it leak from that much that I would need as much brake fluid as i've gone through? I mean I literally have to fill up my reservoir at the end of the week, and i'm really worried.
I was gonna say you had an internal leak, like the master cylinder was letting fluid in your brake booster. But you said there are stains on your rim, so I would inspect over there some more. Clean that area up really good and keep an eye on it. If you said you need to fill it up atleast 1 time a week, it should not be hard to spot.

My brake pedal has always been spongy; it's never been stiff, not even after i replaced my master cylinder, which led me to believe that I needed a new brake booster, but i'm just not sure. If it's not coming from the piston, and it's not coming from the line, I don't know where the hell it's coming from, but it's losing a lot of fluid.

jack up the front of the car, take off the wheel, clean everythinng good. start the car up and press the brakes, have a friend watch and see where the fluids coming from. put like a paper towel down on the ground to see if it drips
follow the brake lines to the right side of the engine bay. heres a diagram for you to get an idea.

ive never heard of the connections leaking when you never touched them, but i guess its a first. if you find any fluid leak, chasing that is going to be the best clue to where its originated. just because you replaced the caliper doesnt mean its not the culprit.
