Default Field VTEC vs Apex VAFC

Got a great deal on the field, so just wondering what are the differences between the two. Is one better than the other? Considering that the apex is pretty new and the field is old skool.

they're both a basic vtec and A/F adjustment tool. Small, relatively easy to install, and limited tuning functionalility.

For the price you can't go wrong.

With the Fields the manual was never fully translated. There are copies floating around the web though (google it). If I recall correctly it has slightly fewer tuning points.

the Fields is an outdated inferior unit , it offers nothing compared to the VAFC.

I've been thru both and junked the Fields when it gave me problems , couldnt be happier with the VAFC for the money.

my problems were not install related , everything was soldered and sound , the unit simply does not like anything more than single digits added in the fuel correction.

it offers no monitoring functions , let alone the peak/hold function the VAFC does , no VTEC unmatch function and you cannot set your fuel correction points , you are limited to every 1000 RPM.

The VAFC is definately worth the extra. The SFC causes a lot of people problems which are mostly due to the crappy wiring loom that comes with it, I've managed to fix mine and now it runs fine but will trade up soon.
If you're looking for anything more than a very basic tuning tool go for the VAFC.

Can I actually get more power with a APEX VAFC?

Absolutely. Most people pick up a ton in the midrange, and then a few extra ponies up top.

Everyone is right about the SFC.. little tuning ability and the wiring is no good. Had one on my car and it made it stall out and run very poorly. Took it out and all was well.
