I currently have a 1.6 EX, with a d16z6 head and working vtec (minime). I am picking up a d16z6 long block on Weds. and I am wondering if I will experience and power gains/losses. I will do it regardless for reliability reasons.
My current setup is as follows:
Stock d16a6 airbox, IM, bottom end; Kamakazi header, rebent apexi exhaust.
I will be keeping everything as is EXCEPT the longblock. It seems to me it will be the same or similar in performance.
Any input?

IMO i love more the full longblock Z6 over a mini me. thats just me...
i did 121 wheel hp on my Z6 and my mini me did 111whp and 118 whp with the comp cam before spun a bearing..
on my Z6 now with cam its way stronger than the previous counterpaths

the d16a6 block with d16z6 head will give you almost 10:1 compression (9.9:1 to be exact).
the d16z6 is 9.2:1 with the same bore and stroke. I would think that if both engines are in the same condition, the d16a6 minime will give more power... the dude with the mini above forgot to mention that his was a 1.5L, which im guessing the block was in pretty bad shape seeing as how he spun a bearing... the 1.5L d15 mini me has a 10.1:1 compression ratio.
on a side note, im currently running a d15 hybrid non VTEC (d15b8 block, D16y7 head, D16A6 intake) and it smokes pretty bad, BUT i rev that ******* to 7200 ever day and its had no problems whatsoever..
