Default just bought my first Crx for $700! Some newbee questions.

I have owned a 95 civic for a while and that is my main car as far as modding so i'm no stranger to imports. however, a few days ago my cousin calls me up and tells me some guy was selling an 88 Crx Si for $700. So I went ahead and checked it out and purchased it. It isn't in the best condition. It needs a new passenger mirror and new seats. The paint is yellow and there is some rust on the sunroof. And it came with an ugly *** kit. As for the motor, it seems to pull pretty strong despite having 180,000 miles, being bone stock, and oil on the sparkplugs. anywaiz im a newbee to Crx's and have a few questions for you guys:
1. What is the difference between the 88-89 and the 90-91 Crx's besides the screw in corners?
2. Im sure the motor of this 88 Crx has seen better days. But what are the chances of this car passing the sniffer. I need to get the car registered and smogged and apparently this car is eating oil because of the oil-drenched sparkplugs. Does oil consumption adversely affect smog readings.
3. How much potential does a D16a6 motor have as far as I,h,e is concerned?
4. Do you guys think I got a good deal on this car?

1. I don't know myself..
2. It.. should.. pass.. if it doesn't so what you pay 100-150 bucks and get it regged..
3. You should consider swapping, or turbo the single cam.. n/a single cams don't stand too much against all the b series EFs with bolt ons, and obviously FI.
4. WEll depends show us pics! I got my buddy's crx with b16a1 tokico whites te37s for 3 grand.. but he's my friend.
5. avatar=nice *****.

Don't you have to get it smogged in order to register your car?

as far as oil in the sparkplugs you might want to change the valve cover grommets first and valve cover gasket...while your in there do a valve adjustment...

difference in the 88-89 and 90-91...

88- doesnt have door mounted seatbelts
89 HF doesnt have door mounted seatbelts, while the rest of the lineup does
88-89 has a different guage cluster and squarish surround
88-89 has white pinstripped seats
88-89 has rear drums
88-89 has different front bumper, side molding, rear taillights, headlights, corner lights and bumper lights
88 Si has 105hp while the rest has 108hp and also a different amount of splines for the clutch

90-91 has red pinstripped seats
90-91 Si has rear disc
90-91 have better redesigned headlights
90-91 a different bumper with "air duct" in them
90-91 uses a rounded guage cluster surround
