My wife has been telling me for the past few days that her car makes a rattle noise.
So I take it for a spin & I hear like the exhaust rattle at 2000rpm.
Could it be the heat shield ???
Or could it be something else ?
The noise starts at 2000rpm but as i give it more gas it goes away.
Its a 96 accord lx auto with 52,000miles

it's the heatshield over the catalytic convertor I'd put money on it.....it's a VERY common problem with 5th gens, and from what I've heard anyway, it's really hard to get "permenately" fixed. The best idea is probably just to remove the heatshield on the bottom side, and just don't park on any high grass.

oem buzz kit is used with the bad oem heat shield to basically stop the buzzing, i dont have one on my car but I think it's nothing more than a bunch of rubber washer or rings
try to get the car to the dealer, some dealer might give it to you for free, again, i have no experience with this so dont qoute me on this.
but i remember some guy here wrote something about the buzz kit

The problem you are describing was addressed by Honda. There is a bulletin and the number is 94-041 and it was originally released on May 13, 1996. It explains about the buzz and the replacement of the gaskets and bolts before and after the mid-pipe (the pipe after the "A" pipe and before the convertor.
The part number for the kit you will need is 18010-SV4-305 and it contains two gaskets, four flange bolts, four springs, and four self-locking nuts.
We have had some luck at work by taking the joint apart and putting some Moly grease on it so it can slide better. Most times it has quieted it down ... other times we had to actually change the gasket and put the new bolt / spring kit on the car.

Well heres what I did.
I put the car up on ramps & got underneith & shook everything that looked like would make the noise.
I noticed that the bolt tabs that the heat shield bolts to the upper heat shield were rusted from heat & moisture. (snapped)
So to fix this i used 2 100% stainless steel clamps & put them around the outside of the heat shields to hold them firmly in place.
I took the car on a 30 min drive to see if I could get it to make the noise &
NO NOISE
Now I know some of you guys will say that they will just rust anyway, but at least my wife wont hound me anymore
