whats longest your stock block turbo gsr lasted?
don't post about which is stronger, an ls or gsr block.
what turbo did you have, how many pounds, how long did it last, and what went wrong with it. Wouldn't hurt if you mentioned your driving tendancies after boosting.
im thinking of running some sort of precision turbo in my gsr (any advice on what internally wastegated one to use on my t3 manifold?) . I plan on keeping the block stock. Don't plan on boosting past 8 or 9, 4-5 daily. I've never done any engine mods to my car other than intake, and nothing leaks. Oh it's got 69k miles. Say I only drive it hard on occasion, watch my oil pressure or temp gauge(which you think is more important?), get it tuned, and make sure all the fuel is going to it, you think i can make the car last another 100k miles?

it all depends on how you set up the turbo. If you go with hondata i will last longer, if you go with a cheap boost controller and get boost spike your engine won't last as long. it all depends. And if you go to the fi forum you will get better reslults. and yes it will go past 100k if you do it right.
not past 100k, i mean to 170k. but yeah, say i get everything, injectors, tuning, fuel pump, oil cooler(does a gsr come with a stock one?), think i could make it last that long?

They must have moved it, or unless the early monday woes got a hold of me, its too early

There is no answer to if a engine will last xxxk miles. A number of things play a roll in that. All you can do is build it right, tune it right and monitor it every day and it should last a while.
I've got 117,000 miles on my gsr, and have been boosting for 17k of them. AFC hack, tuned, not babied, no major problems yet. (knock on wood)
I have had the DRAG3 setup on my 98 GSR for about 4 and a half years now. Simple FMU. No extra nonsense. No oil cooler, ignition, J&S, blah blah blah. Car has 70k miles on it now. Couple accidental trips to 30psi. Motor is just now starting to let go. But not in a catastrophic way. Just osme smoke. Worn rings I'm sure. Time to build!

No leaky injectors or anything?

my friends lasted for 210,000 miles. Only reason it didn't go longer, he has a sorry tuner the day he got it tuned. He went forever on FMU then decided to go hondata after he saw mine..........but, tony1 didn't tune his someone else.
Yea HITES was insisting that he was right in the other post. Anyway, I put my turbo on at 70,000 miles and I'm only running it at 6.5lbs now. As soon as I get some more parts (Standalone, exhuast, clutch/flywheel) I will turn it up to about 10lbs and tune it, then we'll see how long it lasts!
Don't mean to side track, life span of Greddy kit on stock gsr anybody?
ehem!.... any Greddy tech supporters in here?

Wow this post must be old, haha. I just looked at it and saw that I posted in it. I never upgraded my clutch/flywheel, but instead I turned up the boost. Shortly after it spiked and I cracked all my ringlands and one of my sleeves. I'm kinda happy because my new motor is almost done (See sig.)
Had a Greddy Kit 3 years, up to 10psi,, Only a TODA headgasket and valvetrain. Started boosting at 58K, went to 100k. Never had an issue, good compression, and did some good boosting.. I sleeved the block while I had time just to run more boost. Greddy is fine if you don't try to go nutz
