Default Pics from ECHC (will be pic intensive tomorrow)

Here are some pics I got from qualifying and race 2 on Sunday at Summit Point. There are basically some teaser shots and I'll have a bunch more (150+) uploaded tomorrow of the ECHC race and some of the HPDEr's. Hope you guys like.

*add orig.jpg to the end of the pic url's for a 1504x1000 sized version

Did you get any shots of the HCer's that were lifting their inside rear wheel off the ground coming out of T10? That was something...It was only kinda silly when my dad tried it in the VW...and of course nothing remotely similar happened.

When you go through the pics, I encourage you to view them at full size (by clicking on them in the album), they look much better at the real size.

During sundays race, we were sitting in the bleachers facing everyone exiting T10, and you definitly had the most prolonged rear wheel lift going on.

<~~~~will have in car footage from #33 up soon.

Willard-

I am the owner the yellow S2000 and I am pretty new to Honda Challenge (this was our first event), so I don't know why you pointed that out. Can you please explain it to me (we can take this offline if you like).

I believe OPM sponsors the ECHC sereis and all the other cars have to run the banner on their cars...

Williard can clarify..

OPM Motorsports was the title sponsor for ECHC this year, and all cars that compete were required to run their windshield banner. Since OPM Motorsports no longer exist (now OPM Autosport I believe), I don't think it is much of an issue.

Hey, I'd never noticed that page, that's my car! Cool...

To interject, apparently it's not so much an issue since I'd bet there aren't any "OPM Autosport" banners cut, and I doubt Tom and crew will be back with any sponsorship since they were pissed on by some in and around the series earlier this year. I wouldn't blame them, either.

...probably because the rule this season was, "No car enters the track to race without displaying the OPM Windshield banner" ....drivers were discouraged/banned from even trying to argue this topic at the beginning of the season, when An Available Windshield would have been a valuable tool for gaining sponsorship (aka, very lucrative property). It has been observed by all that those rules have been bent and abused to their fullest extent, and those of us who followed the rules could have found a better use of our windshield space. In other words, Rules are only good if they are enforced, and those who follow the rules lose out when they aren't enforced.

I have discussed this offline with Willard, but it sounds like this needs to be posted here as well. I was very aware of the windshield banner requirement and began asking for one at VIR in August. I was told that there weren't any banners available and as soon as there were, I would get one. I continued to ask for one and never received one. To summarize, if there was an OPM banner available on November 1st, it would have been on the car. If there is a windshield banner requirement for next year, you can bet I will be first in line to get mine.

-Pete

PS I was asking Willard why he pointed that out since I am new to this and I didn't know if he was affiliated with OPM or if there was some other history I was unaware of. Sounds like it was the latter of the two.

Pete, we also ran into the same problem of availability earlier in the year at the BeaveRun race, and under the circumstances, the requirement was waived. I'm sure that OPM was not running to create extra banners for a company that no longer exists....

Guys,

Lets PLEASE not go down this road.

BTW-Nice pics, Brian.

For the record we have been OUT of banners for a while. Rules will be enforced.... we were just out.

There will be no required banner in 2004.

John
