Default h22civic handling

How bad is the handling when u put an H22 in a civic? I know its really stiff but is it to the point of where its just absolutely horrible to drive?

Not bad, I know at least it goes straight real fast

I think on the street it's probably tolerable

Ive put just over 25k on mine, its great. For about a year it was my only car. Handling even with stock suspension isnt that bad. It is a little scary at the track on the far end, oh well. It rides good though.

you might want to sell your car............or think about doing a b series swap instead.

the search button is in the upper right hand corner. good luck.

h22 swap is cheaper than b18c. here is what you need:
eng. trans, ecu. $2100
swap kit, def. hasport billets $500
shift linkage $50
halfshaft $50

everything else is just about the same price.

engine is 1000 less but you have to buy a 500 dollar mount kit. so its 500 less. axels same price just different car, and if your trans didnt come with a tulip still in the trans than you will need a 3rd axel to piece the pass. axel together

daily driven for 6000 miles. i did change the rack over to a manual. i didnt really notice that much difference though. if you were planniung on doing a full build up than i would go with b-series. b's are proven, h still in the development stages. more options on the b. i wasted a lot of money on this h22 i have. you can probably get more out of a h22 with bolt ons and easy mods than a b though.

I'm going to be building a h22 hatch for autox yeah thats right autox, not drag racing. I have to try it out considering the potential it can have and I just have to try it out, because nobody else has "really" done it. With the right suspension components and tires I believe its possible.
Hey Josh did you get your H22 running right yet?

The handling is fine. Mine made 181 hp and 152.3 tq. on the dyno (n/a) with bolt ons.

Had mine for close to 2 years now and came in 3rd in my class autocrossing last year (my first year ever).

Get Koni yellows.. springs of your choice, dial it in and you are good to go.

Why is this always an issue? (handling)

Its FINE!

I'm so tired of people talking smack ,about how h22 cant handle.......My h22 handles very nice with no problems......I would highly recommend uprgrading your suspension to something that is adjustable (good set of coilovers) and rear swaybar/tie bar it will help you in the end. All my buddies with b-series like my setup cuz the h22 puts a bit of torque out ,and put it togther with handling and your good to go.......... It's also a good motor for drag racing .

So i shouldnt have to pay more than about $2800 for the entire motor and everything needed for the swap (mounts, etc...)? Im looking so forward to this swap even more now!

I think the handling is just fine also. Any hardcore car enthusiast will likely buy strut bars, anti-sway bars, nice shocks, and springs.

That's bascially what you need.

Anti-Sway bars help a lot! I'm handling fine w/ Suspension Techniques. Some people compare H22A w/ B18C5s. Don't a B18C5 come w/ LSD? Once I switched to an LSD Tranny along w/ the ST sway bars, relocated battery to trunk (to help w/ weight distribution) my car handles AWESOME!
