How rare is this 88-91 Hatch Interior/dash piece?
Not looking to sell, but I wanted some idea as to if these are rare or not. Pretty cool piece though. Too bad I couldn't get the EQ working with a later model CD player. The EQ plug is a DIN plug though...
I got this unit out of an 89 Si.

Actually, the Radio is an optional AM/FM Cassette. The rest of the dash is the extended part, which houses an OEM Honda EQ in the additional radio spot. The EQ plugs into the back of that radio.
I hooked everything up in my car. And afterwards, I questioned why a 1989 Stereo system blows away any Stereo system in the 92-00 Civics/Integras. Seriously, on a strong FM station the headunit with EQ enabled sounds darn good--much better than the 99 Civic CD player that I have in there. I tried both back-to-back and was impressed with the quality of the made in 1989 components.
I just don't think I could stand not having a CD player though. And I don't really want a CD changer--I just don't like add-on changers for some reason. If I could only find a 91 oem Honda optional cdplayer. That would be a score.

Not vary common at all. One of my hatch buddies is really kicking the crap out of himself for selling his only one and after many many hatches and some looking he hasnt found one yet. Dont let it go.
Upon looking at a 91 CRX brochure, they show an optional add-on CD player available for the car. Unless that brochure is from Canada and it was never an option for the US cars.

It's pretty rare to see one with the EQ in it. I have had 2 of these consoles, but only with the lighter and ashtray in them.
The EDM one that has a storage pocket is still available for purchase NEW in Canada.
Can't you just hook up a CD changer that plays through the radio? They have those ones that hook up to the antenna jack and you tune to a specific frequency to listen to CD's.

I have that center console in my 91 DX hatch, I gyanked it from the spare Dx hatch a friend of mine had. I don't have the EQ or the ashtray from it, but I'm going to be putting gauges in there anyways. For now though, my spare 3rd gen teg pouch is sitting where the EQ is supposed to be....good find!

I ended up taking the EQ and radio out and using my existing CD player that I had in my car. I put a spare pouch from a 99-00 Civic where the EQ went. Kind of a pain mounting it in there firm, but I got it to work using all oem hardware locations.
I still might put the EQ and oem radio back in. Sounded very good with the speakers I have in the car.
