h22 guys.... fizanza flywheel and balancer belt removal review.
ok I replaced my stock flywheel with a fidanza 8.5lb flywheel and while I was at it I only removed the balancer shafts belt.
The flywheel is AWESOME and the throttle response is much better and the car just RRRIIIPPPPSS with this mod I regret not doing it sooner. I can floor it in 5th gear and it pulls much better than before. I suggest you H22 guys to do this mod, the revs don't drop as quickly as I though it would between shift and when it hits VTEC forget it and hang on.
The balancer belt is a different story though.... I removed it and now it vibrates about 40% more than before and it can be felt though out the entire rev band. I spun the balancer by hand and they don't feel like they put much stain on the crank(kinda like spinning the alternator pulley). But since there are 2 of them I guess the weight adds up. I will most likely be putting the belt back on because I'm a wuss and the solid mount create enough as it is. I wonder if the combination of these 2 mods makes the car faster(sure feels like it) or is it the HP gain from removing the belt? hhmmmmm, If I only had access to a dyno.
well anyway I give the flywheel
and the belt removal
header goes in next week... wooohooo

Awesome info on the flywheel.....I shall get one soon.....but as far as the balancer belt.........I just removed mine today, but i'm not daily driving my car so I won't mind the extra vibrations. Maybe its something that vibrating??? Just a thought
anywhooo

i have the assembly balanced (have a UR pulley, underdrive pulleys, 8 pound clutchmasters, ACT cluch (lighter than stock) and no balance shafts ... imagine how this thing accelerates
(stock crank just rebalance not lightened)

Kewl I too have a CM flywheel and ACT clutch going on 2+ years now strong.. I am glad you did the belt thing because I wasnt sure and now I know I will leave it on till I am able to get everything balanced...
damn!!!! late again
i was thinking about a lightend flywheel, but then i read some thread in the drag archive that made me change my mind. i dont know though. do you think it would help launching??

I noticed today that if I keep my idle at about 1k rpms most of the vibration is gone. I'm still stoked on how well the car accelerates.
That's interesting that you noticed such a difference with the flywheel, my experience was not the same. I first installed my fidanza flywheel about a year and a half ago, when my H22 was in my prelude, and I was very eager to find a difference, I felt little to no difference in how the car pulled or revved, just that the RPM's dropped a little bit faster and that the engine stopped spinning faster (I could hear the intake stop sucking sooner after I shut the car off).... I assume due to less momentum.
But like I said, I am surprised that you noticed such a difference, I did not, also the lightened flywheel isn't supposed to gain horsepower as far as know.

I dont think I gained any power(maybe I did by removing the balancer belt off)but I do feel a night and day difference.
fizanza flywheel here too....never ran the motor with the stock one....I feel like I am driving a street bike thought it runs through the gears so much faster then any other car I have driven....
