Default prob a noob question.. but (cd changer question)

i was wondering... an alpine head unit out of an Accord... can i plug the changer directly into the back to test it? or is that LONG cable that reaches from the head unit to the trunk really needed? thanks.

You need an adapter to test the CD changer.

the changer is also an alpine... it will plug right into the back of the head unit, but i dont hear any music or anything, but it gets power to eject the cd magazine. just wondering if the really long cable was required to have it operate like it should... or if i were to plug it directly into the back of the unit if it would work fine too.

If the head unit and the changer are both Alpine, it will work.

If the head unit and the changer are both Honda, it will work.

If you're using a Honda/Alpine combo, click here to see why it won't work:

Rewire/switch pins 2 and 4, and you're in business without having to buy an adapter.
