Default Stock CD deck for a 96 Accord questions

We have a 96 accord LX that originally came with a factory am/fm tape deck. If I were to find a factory CD player fro the same model car will it hook right up to the factory plug and work? Are they interchangeable? I don't want to have to mess with the factory harness.

Thanks

(We have a nice alpine in there now but we want to remove it and the amps since there have been tons of break-ins around my girlfriends college.)

it should plug right in, unless you had to rewire it for the alpine unit, obviously.

I used a harness when I installed the alpine so the factory plug is uncut.

Did any of those decks come CD changer ready?

The factory tape deck you have also allows you to use a factory CD unit. It takes the place of the pocket that your car probably has under the stereo. My LX came with the AM/FM tape player and CD player. The CD player plugs into the back of the stereo via a special plug for that purpose. If you get a Honda factory CD changer unit, it will also plug into the slot on the back of the stereo. Another thing, if you want to give up the tape player, then you can get a factory AM/FM CD player unit, which also has the plug on the back for the aux. CD player/changer. I know 4th and 5th gen. Accords, the 90-95 Legends, and the 94-01 Integras all have interchangable head units. Can't remember if Civics or any other Honda/Acura models share the same units.
