Default Impressions after AEM CAI Install

Well I finally got that damned thing in, and it sure was a pain in the *** doing it. Luckily though a friend of a friend is a mechanic and we installed it in his home garage with his help for nothing at all. Performance impressions: Low end's basically the same. Midrange definately has some more grunt to it. High End, I'm speechless, loving it more than ever, but still speechless. On the test drive I opened it wide after 3K and it sounded great until about 5800 or so when Vtec kicked in and OMG, it sounded like the gates of hell opened up and all sorts of evil sounds were coming out. It was great. Definately a recommended install for all you RSX-S owners out there even though I would also recommend getting about 2-3 of your friends to help you on it to expediate the process. As for my next project, I've been debating between full exhaust or start the suspension. What're your thoughts on this? Take Care Everyone.

I have this AEM CAI knockoff:

Put a K&N on it and you got an AEM CAI, the pipe bends are exactly the same. Basically, I feel the same as you, no loss in lower and mid range, but it pulls like a ***** after about 5500 rpm. Oh I have an EP btw.

Definitely..I have a 03' Civic sedan..and I loved my intake after I put it on..quite loud you can definitely hear it..But it seems that you do feel a difference in the car..especially on a range of the rpm's..I only have an LX but oh well..still my baby..

Probobly the remounting, rewiring and installation of the washer nozzle. That took me about 2 hours! Rest of the installation only took about an hour, maybe less.

Mr Wool, The CAI install for your car should be a snap. I used to own a civic, and the install was a breeze. Install for the RSX on the other hand is another story

Yeah.. that damn washer fluid container..

Always a bitch for the new RSX's..
I think DCsports has a replacement washer fluid container for their CAI. Makes the install easier.

(I don't like DCsports that much, but maybe there's a way to get that smaller washer fluid container and use it with an AEM)

I got a V2 and I love love love it! Mid to High rpm range sounds awesome, but I installed it in 45 minutes alone. Is the CAI really that much harder to install... or are do some of you not know **** about installing crap? J/K

I'm amazed, this old thread of mine was revived after almost 8 months. The only frustrating part of the AEM CAI install was the splicing of the wires for moving the washer fluid bottle. Seems that the wires they talk about in the instructions and the wires you see in front of you are not the same(they are, but doesn't seem like it). Other than that the install's a breeze really, nothing really hard, just the darn splicing.

Wow, I have a friend who installed a cai on his S, and I rode in it... never had/felt/heard such a significant increase in performance in the top end....
