Semi-official. Sunday I'm a little hazy on thanks to 3 hours of sleep in the RV Sat night...
Saturday:
H1: James Evans (CRX), Jason Meise (S2000), John Whitaker (EG hatch)
H2: Corey Jacobs (Prelude), Jason Franza (ITR), Adam Curpier (ITR)
H3: Alex Ratcliffe (GS-R), Bill Roediger (del Sol VTEC), Phil Phillips (GS-R)
H4: Lyonel Kent (EG Coupe), Tony Zelones (DC2 LS), Jerry Birchmore (CRX)
H5: Keith Edwards (CRX
King Rat Motorsports Hole Shot Award: Todd Reid (EG DX/LS)
RoadRaceGear.com Hard Charger Award: Sam Lockwood (del Sol)
Sunday:
H1: Peter Curpier (EG), John Whitaker, Evans/Meise/Curpier (can't remember)
H2: Jason Franza, Corey Jacobs, Adam Curpier
H3: Alex Ratcliffe, Phil Phillips
H4: Lyonel Kent, and I *think* Zelones then Birchmore
H5: no cars started the race
Season Champions:
H1: James Evans
H2: Jason Franza
H3: Alex Ratcliffe
H4: Lyonel Kent
H5: Keith Edwards
Rookie of the Year: Matt Dudek
Driver of the Year: Alex Ratcliffe
Hard Chargers of the Year: Chad Slagg and R&D
Other notables:
- H1 battle today between Curpier and Whitaker was AWESOME to watch. Nose to tail for basically the entire race, all clean driving.
- More H1: Those who thought the S2000 couldn't compete should rethink their position. Meise and company's car is not only beautiful and supremely well put together, it is also very well driven by a genuinely nice guy.
- H2 battle was shaping up to be another Franza/Jacobs classic but Corey ran out of brakes from what I understand, went off, and was unable to recover. I think he actually just came in.
- H3: Nice battle between champ Ratcliffe and H4 champ Kent today. Good stuff. Also, Roediger broke, told me in the paddock it's "terminal." Lots of blue smoke.
- H4: Ginsberg had a mishap during towing and didn't make it. Lyonel had already locked but Ginsberg is fast as stink at Summit.
- H5: Beno Rubin was doing Supercomp school in the old Whitaker H5 car. Between him, Edwards and Floyd, H5 will get interesting again in 04.
- New blood: Phillip Ambrose took his first green flag. "davidnyc" was also getting his license in an H2 ITR. The two were paired up for some sessions and looked to be having large fun.
- New series directors: Jason and I are stepping down. In our place will be Alex Ratcliffe and John Whitaker. These guys have some seriously kick *** plans for East Coast Honda Challenge in 04. In John's words, "We're trying to get to where racing a Honda any place but here is just plain stupid."

I couldn't have said it better myself. I love the guy, I really do, but...
Before qualifying, he sits in the driver's seat of #32. I go out, and first lap, the windshield spiders. Then, before the race, he actually leans on the passenger side door. What happened? My CV boot went, on that same side I might add.
Did I mention that I really do love the guy?
I'm so tired. Off to bed.
Jason-
who's really glad about what transpired actually after the race.

In qualifying (with a LOT of traffic including the always-annoying legends cars), the H1 and H2 guys were in the 26s. Faster day-to-day over Saturday, and I suspect some lap records were broken.
--Karl, also tired...stupid "hell bed..."

Karl got me good this weekend.
Pre-Karl, Everything running great, best qualifying result be a LONG shot.
Post-Karl, drop back 5 positions during the race, develop radiator leak on racecar, throw serpantine belt on Jeep, throw lower power steering pump bolt on Jeep, destroy brake pads on racecar....
