only partially correct.
88 had different rear lower control arms which also resulted in different rear shocks.
Also 88-89 has different bumpers and such than the 90-91. Similar to how 96-98 civics are different from 99-00.

sorry man, lol, i was thinking of the front uppers, i just replaced mine a few weeks ago on the drivers side, so when i heard LCA's i thought of mine, lol, it was a pain to do anyways, but youre right it did have different ones and also the 88's never had sway bars, the 89-91 si's did
The 88 si and hf (dont know about dx) had the "open faced" rear lca's.
Infact it's the same setup as the Integra type R. Rear ITR shocks should fit on an 88 si.
I believe they also have same part numbers.... I'll have to double check.
edit: I mean rear aftermarket shocks would be same for 88 rex and ITR.

The 88 CRX LCA setup is known as passive rear steering. It has it benefits, they are great for road racing/autocross, very responsive. For a daily driver though there is really no need for them. The 89-91 fork style setup is just fine, and you have a much better selection for aftermarket shocks as opposed to the 88's.

Correct. The same for 88 Civics as well. My 88 DX 4dr and my friend's old 88 STD hatch had the "ITR style" LCAs

The ITR shocks used in a 88 CRX even though the same style as each other, will cause the CRX to sit approx 1" higher. This can be corrected though, by using an adjustable coilover and lowering it down an inch to compensate for the higher ITR shock. Or just use Koni Yellows and move the perches down. Just use a little creativity.
