how to attach back of seat for SCCA
The SCCA GCR says you have to attach the back to the main hoop or its cross bracing. What is a good way to do this?
I plan to buy an aluminum seat like a Kirkey and not a composite seat.
thanks for any suggestions, pictures or links. searchs on honda tech and faq's yielded little.

Hi Tom,
Welcome to H-T! Here is an old pic from an ITA car that I built for someone else then bought myself when he quit racing. I don't think you ever saw this car, Tracy and I each ran it once then sold it in about '99 or '00. After some major wrecks, it is for sale again by someone on IT.com. Anyway, I like to weld a flat steel plate to the end of a 1x2 steel tube. I bolt the plate to the seat back making as big a load bearing surface so it can't punch through the seat and skewer your spine. Then I use a U bolt to attach it to the horizontal bar on the main hoop. The advantage for this is that you can drill several sets of holes in the 1x2 so then your seat can be made adjustable for several heights of drivers but still have the flat plate bolted to the seat back. WE were even able to change it for enduros during a pit stop.

I use the seatback brace from IO Port Racing. It works well. We were also able to use it on enduros. We drilled a couple of holes to accomadate (sp?) the different positions.
