Default I hate B16A2 oil filters *rant*

Well everyone knows the Si oil filter is in the most in-oportune location ever... no room for maneuvering your hands, laying under the car it's a hard angle, can't fit a strap wrench in there, can't come at it from the top due to the intake manifold, oil always spills when you take the filter off...

I'm just having a bitch of a time with doing my oil change today. You'd think Honda would think the oil filter location through a little more

Try a jar opener...one of those little rubber circles. Thats what I use. Maybe it will help..maybe not.

I don't have a problem getting a wrench on it enough to loosen it and then just take it off by hand. One of these days I am going to buy one of those "sockets" that fits over the end of the filter so you can use a ratchet to take it off. But it does suck how oil spills over everything. I usually tuck a couple rags up there to try and catch most of it and then I do a wipe down before I take it off the ramps.

I think you're only supposed to tighten it by hand anyway, so it shouldn't be too hard to losen it. I've never needed one of those oil filter wrenches.

or if its really hard..stick a screwdriver towards the very end of it and twist...

I don't have a problem with mine ever. With the car jacked up it's pretty easy to get your hand in there. If you can't take it off with a little elbow greese then it's on way to tight. It ususally just takes me about 3 strong twists to loosen it. Like a charm. I just changed mine yesturday as a matter of fact. Took all of 12minutes. Most of the time was waiting for the oil to drain.

drain the oil first, then use a pick or a some with sharp point the punch a small hole at the end of the oil filter to help the oil drain out of the filter back into the oil pan faster, then lose the oil filter without any oil dripiping on your exhaust or you.

I use the K&N oil filter which as a 1" hex at the end, so a socket can fit easily. Don't tighten it so much that you have to put a wrench on it anyway. I wish there was a longer version of this filter to ease install/removal.

I have one of those oil filter adapter things. It's made by Flotool. Get the #2. It fits right over the end of the oil filter. It has a 3/8" drive slot on the back of it. Get either that or just usethe Fram oil filters that have the grippy stuff on the end of 'em.

Why in the world are people suggesting stabbing the filter to get it off? GEEZ, talk about bad advice.

To repeat the intelligent replies, if you need a wrench of any kind to get the filter off, then it's too tight. I can always get mine off from ABOVE the car and loosening the filter with my hand.

Here is another good tip. When you start draining the oil wait about 20 to 30 min. before taking the filter off. This lets the oil drain out of the filter so you don't end up with a big mess.

The car opener was a good idea.

Fram makes filter with the grippy end on it, that my help you. But seriously, don't start stabbing it with a screwdriver, just don't tighten it so hard next time.

Oil always spills down my arm when I take mine off in my HX... I always tighten it by hand but then when I try to take it off to change it, it's always too hard so I have to spend about 10 mins trying to get the wrench in there and losen it....

Stab the ******* filter.. who cares.

Wipe the oil off when you're done. Is that such a big deal?

I use K&N filters.. they have a large nut on the end to get a wrench on it.

lube up the seal before putting the new filter back on. lol

if its stuck, hammer in a screw driver straight through the filter, and use the screwdriver to turn the filter.

i use fram filters, and they have that grip stuff on the end of it. its alot easier for me to turn it.
