Default my observation with the short shifter...

wussup all...tonight me and my friends decided to give our slow cars a run for their money. if no one knoes i have a SOHC zc powered 91 CRX. my friend has a 93 4-door LS, and another with a 97 Hatchback CX!. well we all run the same set up so far...seeing as how we've had our cars for a this summer only. i/e. but them two have short shifters and i dont. Any other time before the LS had his short shifter, i would win just by enough because he'd start pulling on me quite good in 3rd. the hatchback and i have pretty much been even, tonight it was a nose to nose race again. But anyway...the LS whipped my *** by a bumper. i felt his shift **** and the throw was really affected...im like **** i need a short shifter soon myself eh? so yea, what are your guys inputs on short shifters? i know for a fact* that it helped him in a race, we talked about it and agreed upon it. so yep, this friday im getting one

I put a Skunk2 short shifter in my drag CRX, and my times have improved alot. I had a problem before with speed shifting (I couldn't shift as quick as I needed to). So the shifter did help me.

I'm sure others will come along and say short shifters are overrated, you don't need one, etc. But mine helped me

they arent "overrated" if you get the right one. meaning dont get a ebay special and expect much from it, like he said get a skunk or other eaqually good company's shifter and you will be set. i went the cheap way the first time and got one from a shop that was like 15 bucks. barely noticed the diference, but then i got a nuspeed (sp) and noticed a huge difference over the other one i had previosly installed, so ya. they are a good thing

has anyone tried the jg one yet, I intalled one in a gsr about 3 weeks ago, it leans toward the driver and it feels pretty slick, still think i like the skunk a little better.

It may be harder to shift with the Ebay ones because its probably TOO short. There is such a thing as having a too short short shifter. My friend has a SKunk 2 single bend in his CRX and it shifts very precise and short

also those ebay shifters...they like to break right off at the **** so you have to drill out the part that is in there just to save your ****. Ive had dc for a few years and i love it...

Take it easy with short shifters, if you use it with finesse and just push it into gear gently, you can tell the tranny doesn't like it if you jam it too fast. You have to get the right feel down and then you don't have to worry about it. If you don't and go around jamming it in too fast your synchros and your pocket book are going to dislike you.

Dern straight. My b&m ss has issues w/going into 1-2 shifts. I guess the syncros can't keep up with it.
But I'm not about to go back to the big stick

I just recently got a 90 CRX dx with a B16A1 freshly installed, complete with a YS1 tranny and short shifter. I've never driven with one before, and I find it difficult to get it into 2nd quickly after topping out first. Like I have the clutch depressed fully and it just....won't....go. I'm sorta thinking of going back to the normal shifter, but maybe it's because I'm just not used to it yet.

your not used to it yet, you probably let the clutch go too soon or think that you have it in second when you dont...the same thing happened to me..with time i fixed that problem and hit 2nd mad easy

I got a SOLO short shifter and its great. I used to have a cheap one before, it was a shorter throw but the precision was not there. The SOLO is short and extremely precise. I luv it
