ECU CHIP + JACKSON CHARGER/ ZEX CAM???
okay, here is the current set-up
d16y8 (stock)
jackson racing sc at 6lb
b&m fuel pump
apexi safc
header/test pipe/catback/intake
I just purchased a ecu jumper harness to convert the car from obd2b to obd1. Next to come is the complete ZEX head package for my motor (street/strip cam, springs) My question comes into play next. When parchasing a new ecu (p28) should I buy a stock one and tune it with my SAFC, or should I buy a "chipped" ecu? One reason I am considering a chip is because I would like a higher rev-limiter, lower v-tec engagement (with ajusted fuel), and a more aggressive fuel curve. I am concerned how it will all work together. (timing and stuff like that) Any advise will be helpful.
Also, if you know a good ecu tuner for a supercharged application please hook me up
thanks

Typical "chipped" ECU's come tuned with N/A maps i.e. very aggresive timing. Buy a virgin P28 and run Uberdata or an AFC yourself.

that is what I was concerned about. So "vtc_civic" said no chip.
anyone else?

how will just the Apexi SAFC do? will this be enough, or is hondata still the answer?

I have done a little checking into UBERDATA
looks like some good ****. how hard is all this do do? it seems a little more then I could do on my own. (i was once fired from NOKIA because I couldn't sodier that small ****) but besides that, what ecu is best for it p28 i hope?
what would be the total cost to set-up the car with UBERDATA ?

Well since you already bought the conversion harness you can just buy Hondata for around 400 bucks you need to get the boost option. Check w/ http://www.wiredspeed.com email & tell them your from H-T.com. They'll get you a killer deal.

thanks maddog, anbody have any other input?
If I were to do Hondata, how much work is it to convert so it will run a b-series if I decide to go twin cam in the future?

Well it will have to be a OBD2 engine to utilize the conversion harness or just use a obd1 engine w/o the harness. I mean alot depends on the engine you buy too. If it has a different ECU (P72 vs P28) they'll have a different harness you'll have to have Hondata placed in the new engines ECU. I believe this is correct
assuming you have an obd1, uberdata is pretty cheap. $100 for a burner and $20 worth of chips, etc assuming you have a soldering iron. the software is free!!!!

One reason I am considering a chip is because I would like a higher rev-limiter
Any advice will be helpful.

I lost both RPM and MPH limiters on my d16y8 when converting to D16z6 ECU.
I have no idea why.
