Well I have a B17 and recently bought a tranny from a guy in Florida. So the tranny arrives and looks decent, but has a S20 label on it. I'm thinking and gsr trannies are Y80. So I go ahead with the swap. Everything goes smoothly. Tranny doesn't grind and drives good. The only problem is the trannies an LS tranny. I call the guy back and he swears its a gsr. My third gear tops at 100 mph and forth tops at 130. I believe this is an ls tranny...if anyone could help me confirm this i'd appreciate it. How should a real gsr tranny mph be like?

 

94+ gsr usdm is a y80, also 94-00 ls/gs/rs are y80, jdm ctr is y80,89-91 civic sir can be y80 also as far as I know. Some1 correct me if I am wrong.

yep, sounds like an LS tranny to me.
Btw, cable 92-93 GSR (B17) tranny's are YS1 not S20.
