Larger wheels move the bulk of the wheel's/tire's rotating mass to the periphery. They are also downright heavier than smaller wheels. For these reasons it takes more horses to get the wheels turning so your car is slower. If the rolling radius is larger as well, it effectively increases the gearing, which also slows little four bangers down. Bottom line: bigger wheels are always slower than smaller ones.

that's the reason why you need to get the light weight rims~

the stock 94-95 ex rims weight 16lbs w/o tire on.
i've recently got the light weight 17" rota rims on and i didn't feel any heavier than the stock rims, since they are "light" rims. like 16.7lbs per rim and i know the fact that 205/55/15 tires are heavier than 215/40/17 tires.

yeah the key thing is that you need to stay w/ the inch up chart, so when you go from 15" rims w/ 195/60/15 tires to 17" rims you need to get the 205/45/17 tires in order to be in the same diameter size.
and plus get the light weight rims, i've seen most of 17" rims vary from 21lbs to 24lbs, i think they were just too heavy for my F22 vtec engine...

note: it is a whole lot easier to understand you on this board if you type regular instead of using a bunch of slang in your topics, people tend to not take you seriously here with that crap in your posts.

As you have proven, it all depends on wheel/tire sizes. 17 inch wheels make you noticably slower than 15s. The most fair comparison would be for both of you to race on stock wheels/tires.
