turbo ALOT louder with wastegate vac line off
was put on new filter today, and took of the vac line from wastegate to compressor cause it was in way, and forgot to put it back it back on , went for a drive , realised it was off (this on built engine). the main thing i noticed , before i even got to 4 psi.. the turbo sounds ALOT louder ,and i mean alot... car was more responsive to boost, spooled faster. i did pull over after that put vac line back on .. but i wonderd why the turbo acts like this without vac line on ?!? thx
good luck man hope ur motor can handle 30 psi.. lol.. u gotta put it back on man. i think u maxxin out boost with it off. i believe thats what happens..
i just tried to explain dude , i didnt even take it above 4 psi...i featherd it at 4 cause i knew somthing was weird how it was so much louder.. ive done no damage at all , i run 18 daily , 4 psi with no wastegate vac isnt gonna do anything... i just wonder why it was so much louder..
Sounds like your wastegate was leaking early to me... If you have a manual boost controller, ditch it and get an electronic one. It will leave the wastegate CLOSED until full boost is reached, and the car should act a good bit more responsively.
