Royal Purple good for S2k?
RP is all hype.
I'd go Redline or Amsoil. I bought Redline because the S2Ki Marketplace has a bundle package for a decent deal.
For $88.25 you get:
-12 qts of Redline 10W-30
- 2 Honda OEM Oil Filters
- 2 Honda OEM Oil Drain Plug Crush Washer

where do you get this information from? because everyone i have talked to says that it breaks down less than Redline and its much cheaper

I don't know who you have talked to. Do they do oil analysis'?
I have talked to and read from various tribologists (Those who study the design, friction, wear, and lubrication of interacting surfaces in relative motion; as in bearings or gears) who actually do oil analysis.
Royal Purple has never looked that great. IMO, it is not much better than any synthetic oil. They question it being a true synthetic...
Also I have read about Royal Purple from a former Tribologist on S2Ki. His SN is Road Rage.

For the lazy, here is one good post I'm quoting from S2KI.

Today's best dino oils are the match of full synthetic oils of just 10 years ago. This is the result of advances in additive technology, and in hydrotreatment (hydrowaxing) of the mineral oil base stocks. This reduces their bad properties tremendously, and classifies them as Group III oils, which many synoils were years ago. Pennzoil alone invested hundred of millions of dollars in advanced iso-decane technology.
meanwhile, many synoils were dropping from Group IV lubes (either full PAO's, or PAO's plus esters) to GIII. This was a result of the Castrol lawsuit (thanks Castrol, you cheapened it for everyone) where they convinced a court that "synthetic" could be applied to hydrotreated oils since they were "synthesized".
Well, true synoils are mader molecule by molecule. Amsoil is PAO-based today, having dropped its ester formulations years ago. Red Line is a Group V ester. Motul is ester as well.
Royal Purple looks hyped to me - many of its formulations are not synthetic, and the TBN numbers look only fair, so longevity is probably not great. Neither is it for today's Mobil1 1. Amsoil has the best additives and the highest TBN I have seen, with red Line and Valvoline Synpower behind, but ahead of the "GIII" synoils.
Today's synthetics from Mobil, pennzoil, etc. have been cheapened to compete with Castrol's Syntec, which is a far cry from the full synoil they sell in Europe, which is a true syn. Frankly, I do not think much of the Euro-formula either - it is expensive and does not have the quality of Amsoil or Red Line for less.
As to "what oil should I use", I recommend a Group IV synoil like Amsoil or a Group V like Red Line if you go to extended drains of at least 7500 miles. If not, dino oil like Pennzoil multi-vis or Valvoline All-climate are very, very good, and good for 3000-5000 miles.</TD></TR></TABLE>

uhmm okay. It doesn't mean RP isn't all hype. Which it is. You asked me where I got my information from and I showed you. You said "it breaks down less than Redline," where's your proof? Who is "everyone" I talked to? Back up your statements with facts.

Interesting.. So is he saying Castrol Syntec is not that great?
I'm curious. I just made the change from Mobil 1 5w-30 synthetic to Castrol Syntec 5w-30 synthetic. This is on a 2000 Civic SI. I've used synthetic for the past 25k miles.
