Default Anybody else using the new (smaller) honda oil filters?

Honda p/n: 15400-plm-a01

I've been using the mobil 1 m1-104 for a while and then got a HAMP filter from a buddy and used that at my last oil change. Now I'm using these new smaller honda oil filters (THANKS Len!).

Anyone else using these? Impressions?

I honestly can't tell a difference - other than my oil takes a little longer to get darker than a honey color.....

I used one last week end. I had to buy a new filter wrench. It is a fram filter. Who made the older filters? Any way so far so good... 500 miles and the oil looks nice.

I've been using for a while.. 3 oil changes so far.. now i'm using..

Not the greatest pic but it'll do.. its a shot of the plm vs. pfb(hamp.. duh!)

The plm was for my next oilchange.. but i got a bunch of hamps recently.

I've read that the Small Hamp filters bumps the oil pressure by 5psi.

Will higher oil pressure cause the oil bypass valve to open sooner and longer?

You don't have a choice anymore.

But really, it's just an oil filter. LoL

ok, i have a A01 and a A02 in my hands.... all i know is that the A02 looks like a piece of ****. especially the threads. they have at least half the threads (maybe 2 turns ) i didn;t cut them open to compare, but still. my dealer told me the A01's will be phased out, and replaced with the A02. wtf? can't honda just stick with a damn filter?

Mattj</TD></TR></TABLE>

I use an Autometer guage and could not tell a difference in pressure.
If I remember correctly Mike K did see a difference in oil pressure but I don't know what he used to measure?

Filtech made the old ones and they were much nicer. I thought the new ones were Filtech also. I know at my dealership they are. Just smaller now

I just changed my oil with OEM Honda filter yesterday, and I didn't realize it was smaller. I was kind of freaked out at the first time (I thought the dealer guy gave me the wrong filter)...but it end up, it's correct. Well I dunno the result yet.

But for some reasons, how come there is a HONEYWELL logo on it? kind of wierd

Not I.

Still using HAMP filters (both small and large). When they run out, I'll just try to buy some more HAMP filters or find someone who is willing to ship over S2K filters from Japan.

When I used the smaller filters I noticed the oil seemed to get dirty a little faster.

Exactly what I observed, I changed my Mobil1 at 2,800 miles.

honeywell owns fram and they are phasing out the fram name to put honeywell logos for company name recognition. in any event, I'd stay away from the fram/honeywell filters.

before I got my HAMP small filters that I'm using now, I would just buy some NAPA gold filters, which is made by WIX.

And the small HAMP filters are not made by honeywell/fram but by TOYO ROKI in Japan. However, the smaller filters you buy over the counter in the U.S. at the dealers are made by FRAM.
