A buddy of mine that has an EVO 8 and is on the boards a lot.
Now sift through this cause does AWD really get you those 0-60mph times?
I think this would make a good discussion topic

wow, so your Evo is faster than any production car on the planet 0-60, even the McLaren F1 or Ferrari F50?
Gotta be a mistake. I've seen AWD Porsche 911 Turbo's run 3.4-3.6 0-60, I don't think our Evo's can be that fast.
Don't mean to sound dissenting, but 0-60 in the 2's are just unheard of in anything I've read about having a combustion engine

If he claims to have it then no.
The bugatti is rumored at 2.9. Most of the really, really fast exotics still only do it in mid 3's. That includes mclaren, lamborghini murcialogi, enzo, etc.
What your buddy is takling about is the RS200 which is good for the mid 2's. If your buddy has one, then he is one of the lucky two dozen or so on the planet that does.
Edit: I just read the thread. What I said above stands. I can almost believe it on a heavily modified aftermarket car, but when I first read this I thought you were saying your buddy with his stock evo had it. As above, the rs200 evo did it but I doubt your friend has one of those....

0-60 times are traction dependant...
So a slicked up car is cutting much faster 0-60 times than one on street tires.

an 11 second evo can cut a 1.65 60 ft on radial street tires. not drag radials, retreads, ET streets, bla, bla, bla. whether it will run below a 3 second 0-60 time or not, i do not know.

that post it not right becuase the hennesey viper venom has been known to do 0-60 in 1.9 seconds.

let's see, EVO's are AWD, turbo, and you can put built motors and transmissions in them to make insane amounts of power....
I'd say you can do 0-60 in less than 3 seconds with an EVO if you wanted to.

Very possible, a 700awhp evo with a good set of street tires can do sub 3 second 0-60's on the street no problem. We are talking about 700awhp here. Its pretty easy to do in an evo. There are more than 2 dozen of them out there as well. Hit the shift to 2nd quick enough and yeah, sub 3's easy. Especially with some drag radials or street slicks on there. Its all over.
You dont realize how quick 0-60 is. During my logs at the track on slicks on my Sentra my 0-60 is in about 3.3 seconds even with crappy 1.75 60ft mph at the 60ft using a calculator comes out to about 42mph, It was the slow shift to 2nd and crappy 60ft that to account for that 0-60 time. Cars running 9's and 10's pulling 1.5X 60fts are 0-60 in probably just over 2 seconds.
Again very very possible especially at the track on slicks or drag radials and supporting models. A good hard launch on an evo can pull a 1.4X 60ft easy and yeah 0-60 in probably right at 2.0-2.4
