Default Problems with del Sol VTEC radiator in EG H22

OK...this is the deal, I got a swap done in my del Sol (1995, so it's the same thing as an EG). But this is the problem, I decided to get a del Sol VTEC radiator so I wouldn't have to worry about the cooling system at all. The shop that did the swap said that I was going overkill, and well, I was happy with that. But, just recently, I found out that the drain at the bottom of the radiator is leaking coolant constantly, no matter what this shop does to tighten the valve...because they did, and it's still leaking the coolant.

Now they are telling me that I have a lifetime warranty on the radiator and that I can get another one free of charge. But, they said that the same thing might happen since the radiator is for a smaller engine and therefore is under a lot more stress than it should be. I don't think that it is the fact that the radiator is too small, but more that the radiator I have is defective. Nevertheless...they are pushing this Fluidyne radiator really hard and promising me that if I use that one, that I won't have any problems.

So what should I do? Go with another VTEC radiator or pay the difference and get a Fluidyne radiator? Is the bigger radiator worth the investment and will it be more reliable? I know it will cool the engine better.

It does make somewhat sense about the whole pressure thing but i know for a fact that both single core and dual core radiator can and will hold its pressure without a problem. I ran a dual core for a while till I ran over a truck tire on the highway and broke the dam thing. So now I sport a single core rad without temp issues. So basically...... that rad is a piece of defective ****!!!HTH

Hmm...I thought it was just defective. I just went out to the car, the leaking is just as bad as it was before they tightened the valve at the bottom. Jesus, this is getting bad.

I am REALLY close to just slurging and getting the Fluidyne and not having to worry about it anymore.

They probably stripped out the drain valve.

The DOHC Del Sol, radiator is just fine for your set up. If it was an "over kille" then why would they push an even better radiator?

Exactly, sounds to me like a problem with the drain bolt, try some teflon tape around it. The Del Sol VTEC radiator is completely sufficient to run an H22 powered car.
I have a 92 VX with a supercharged B18C1 swap, still have the original OEM Honda radiator - Almost 12 Years old and no cooling problems whatsoever, it's hold it's own!

FOr sure sounds like they are feeding you a shitty sales pitch, I use the Del Sol rad in my hh2ek 4dr, I used it in the h22 ek 2dr (R.I.P.) and I now use a gsr rad on my h22 dc2 and have never had a problem at all. Anyways tell then they are full of ****!

Hmm...you guys make a good point. I am thinking that the problem here is that this radiator is ****. They haven't been pushing the product at me TOO hard, it's just that I do not want to have this problem ever again...and they told me that a Fluidyne would be the way to go all out for this.

Personally though, I am thinking that I am going to save myself some money, take them up on the offer of getting a new radiator for free since I have a lifetime warranty on the one in there now, and maybe using the money I would spend on another radiator for some slicks.

I would take them up on the free radiator deal. An aftermarket radiator I don't feel is worth all the money. On a sidenote Im a big fan of the GSR radiator but that has no bearing on this subject really. Good luck.

I ran the Del Sol dual core for a while in my H22hatch without any problems. Just get it replaced with the warranty and call it a day.

The VTEC radiator is from the del Sol VTEC model. Bigger radiator for the bigger B16 engine that it had.

*throws a neon light at poison* stop your crying, ricer

I have not seen the limit (with in reason) of dual core. I have seen them on a lot of boosted cars and not have a problem (remind you that it is a basicly stock boosted set-up). I have ran many h22a civics on dual core with no problems.

yeah, after all, you gotta floor it with the limits of power. the h22a civic with dual core radiator is too much power for ya.

And now Poison and his friend are calling me a ricer. I was just asking a simple question, no need to be all sarcastic.
