Help, CEL when A/C ON
I get a Check Engine Light (CEL) only when I turn on the A/C. Hondata tech rep is telling me it's a wiring problem (thanks that narrows it down!) and that Hondata has nothing to do with the air conditioning. When I re-install the origonal OBD2 ECU (everything else constant) I do not get a CEL when I turn ON A/C. When I select Error Codes in the HondataLogger nothing is reported. So either it's the Hondata's stuff (S200 or Hondata modified P28 ECU) or its the OBD2 to OBD1 conversion harness ... my bet is on Hondata's stuff.
BTW, not sure why the Hondata rep is saying their product has nothing to do with A/C function when I know that it controls the A/C by cutting it off whenever the car is in high boost!
Suggestions??? Anyone else having similiar issue??

on the tune do they have the Nitrous control enabled to run off the AC switch?? with nitrious control you can enable N2O by pushing the AC button. Maybe this is the reason.
When I select Error Codes in the HondataLogger nothing is reported. And the Hondata tech told me this should report everything.
Is there a more direct way to pull the code like jumper a connection and watch the check engine light flash?
This is the first CEL I'm had in the 2000 Civic SI so not sure where this is done<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by poison »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Pull the code, find out what it's throwing...</TD></TR></TABLE>

If it is the harness I can talk to the manufacturer, but I'm afraid they're not going to admit to anything. How would I check the harness?
Is there another way to do an OBD2 to OBD1 conversion without a harness or another manufacturer to turn to. BTW the harness is from Wired Speed Lab

I've never heard of that as a Hondata feature but I'll check this.. thanks. I don't think so though since this base tune came from a Civic with similiar setup (intake, exhaust, JRSC)

There is a jumper under the dash on the lower passenger side just above the ECM. It is a blue connector. Just jump it with a bent paperclip and turn the key to the ON position. Check how many blinks come up on the CEL. A long blink is a 10 a short blink is a 1.

Thanks I'll give this a try, I assume ALL CEL codes get stored so I don't have to reproduce the CEL inorder to see blinks.. I'll get back to you in a couple minutes

Yup, as long as it is still lit up on the dash *you have'nt reset the ECM yet* you should have no problem pulling the code out. Let us know what code it is and we can help you!

I jumpered the blue connector (the one in the orange rubber casing)
Turned the key to the ON position but not getting any check engine light flashing. Does the car need to be running? I can't start my car right now (intake manfold plug out right now)

That should help more. Next time don't post this same thread in like 3 forums though. I swear someone will help you in here.

Is the CEL still on while the car is running??

When I jumper the connecter, I do not get the flashing CEL with the car running or with the ignition in the ON position.
Hondata had me try an origonal P28 ROM instead of the base map, and I still get the same CEL when using the A/C. So I know it's not the ROM.
I know it's not any wiring prior to the adapter harness and Hondata P28 ECU because the origonal Honda Civic SI ECU does not give me this problem.
So what else can I do to prove what component needs replacing?
