Default Please help a fellow R brotha out Yo!

Please help. Going to Englishtown, NJ tonite. Don't know where to launch my R at. Would rather not burn clutch, snap axels etc. My mods are limited to an aem cai, a Comptech 4-2-1 from the factory, and upgraded plugs and wires.

Thanks alot!
Here is my other thread from the drag forum..
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=662797

O FYI -->I'm runnin on stock itr's with either good year eagles(don't ask why) or the generic kumho's

I'd really appreciate any answers!

I would say stage about 4K and feather the clutch out quickly then soon as you
get good traction floor it. IMO
good luck

i highly doubt youll burn your clutch or snap axles on reg BS street tires.
breaking axles and burning the clutch usually come from too much traction. which you wont have.
id prob say like 4k or so . i dont feather though, i just drop it.

best run I've had so far is launching at 5500 rpms or so, feathering the throttle until the car gets moving. Don't floor the throttle till you get the car moving or you'll just spin your tires.

There was a good thread recently about dragging a close to stock R - might want to do a search.

read activeaero's post, lots of good info in there. the higher you can launch at, the better. work on launching it high, maybe 6K, and slip the clutch out slowly to maintain traction.

isnt it raining like a mother outside?

I have the eagle f1's on my car, pretty good tire in my opinion.

I launched at 7000 on my stock clutch, and now at 7200-7500 with my HDSS/prolite setup. Drop the tire pressure to 17 psi in the front.

What kinda 60' times are you cutting with those tires/launch? Just curious.

I can pull consistant 2.1's and a few low 2.2's

I don't remember if that was with my azenis or the F1's, but I think it was with the F1's. I dont' think it would change though either way, both are pretty sticky tires. if anything I would expect the F1's to be faster becasue of the lower profile/lighter tire.

Nice times. But as you may know a R is far from a drag car.

I pulled 2.0, then bent my axle on the 1-2 powershift, will never go drag racing again.

the R isnt far from a drag car, mine will be in the 10's soon and still be a street car
dont make unknowledgable comments.

and axles dont just bend , im sure due tolack of experience setting upyour car for drag racing didnt help

I'm curious as to what specific setup issues you are talking about here?

well - for one thing, "power shifting" is not necessary for good 1/4 times and puts unneeded stress on the drivtrain... shift like you normally would (only faster )

believe it or not ride heigth, tire pressure, susp siffness amkes a huge difference.
unexperienced people seem to thin drag racing is just lowering your tire pressure reall y low in the front and just slamming on it.
no racing is that easy, all diff types of racing require the car to be set up diff ways, as well as weather, track conditions. you have to know the car itself.
im not putting you down .
Im just saying dont just blame a bent axle on drag racing as a whole and type R's suck at it becuase you had no success. Its being close minded.
I cant even tell you how many passes i have been down the 1/4 mile. and i still learn new things everytime im out.

Thanx and yes i did get to E-town. I ran a 15.2 @ 92xxx mph twice. The track was wet and they kept stopping the runs to dry the track. I launched @ 4,500.. bogged then 5,500 and bogged. I got a 2.3 and 2.2 60ft though. I dont get it

bogged?? were you holding the revs and then letting off the gas as you let the clutch out?

you probably need to give it some more gas when letting out the clutch rather than just leave the gas steady.

deff weird, becuase usually if it bogs means the revs werent high enuff and it caught too much traction abrubtly and pulled the RPMS down , what was the tire ppressure at? i say next time just dump the clutch and see how that works, if that bogs, i dont know why , i would have to be there to see what your doing .
