first I'll say do a search

The ZC isn't a bad motor but it's not that greatest as far as HP. it's fairly cheap since they already bolt up to the A6 tranny and decent for torque. there really isn't a lot of aftermarket stuff for them and there is a lot of kow dizzy problems. for the same price I would swap a LS motor in your car and turbo it or maybe save up for a B16

I beleive that will only work on a SOHC ZC. I know it wont work on a DOHC ZC.

I have a DOHC ZC and for the money it was well worth it.

I dont suppose i can use dohc vtec head then rather than a z6! if not is the zc engine a good for going turbo because of the low compression ratio? any ideas on times with turbo or fully built n/a? thanks for the help by the way!

Nope the dohc vtec head wont work on the ZC.

ZCs love turbo from what Ive seen.

I ran a 15.4 with my I/H/E ZC.

Also you might want to check out http://www.dh-racing.com . I'm not sure if they will ship to you or not but they are worth checking out if you plan on modding your ZC.

The ZC is fun for the money. Make sure it can breathe well. I turbo'd mine, and although the 1/4 mile times aren't shocking, for a budget turbo kit, the car is a complete blast to drive. I don't regret going ZC for even a second.

I went 15.2s-15.4s with my ZC in an Si Hatch Back with I/H/E, the turbo knocked a little more than a second off of that.... 14.0-14.1. This is with 2.3 - 2.4 60 ft times for reference.

Yup, ZC is a good little motor. Too bad the rods are really weak... keep boost low, IMO.

6.5ish... maybe 7. Its hard to tell because it fluctuates with the ghetto boost controller.

why do want rid of it??? there are plenty of upgrades available. what do you actually want to do with the engine?

i'm presuming you're in england - go here http://www.hondacrx.co.uk/forum and do some reading

an engine swap is going to cost you nearly as much as just buying a VT in the first place - so i'd forget about that option

i'm in ealing, west london.

i'd seriously consider just selling your car and buying a VT if you want vtec. you can pick up a decent VT or SiR for about £3K now. just swapping in a d16z6 is not going to give you any extra power for all that hassle.
what are your reasons for wanting vtec anyway? if it's the noise, then get a DC DAC. if you've heard adam's si it sounds like a VT when it hits 4.5K

this site is better for real technical how-to's, i've used it extensively for projects like my gearbox, but it's not as relevant to us as our cars are different in too many ways and prices for everything are hella different.

well if you have the engine, dizzy, ecu etc and lots of time then the only bother is the actual engine swap, which isn't that bad. though as i said before, why you'd do this for no power or performance gains (except for a couple of mpg) is beyond me

The zc is a great little engine, right now im making 182 hp to the wheels(9psi greddy turbo, zdyne standalone) and hope to be pushing 200 with abit more tuning in the spring, i have never been to the strip but i figure it could do low 13s high 12s with good traction and reaction times. i have never had any major problems with the zc, 3 years NA and 6 months turbo,d
