Default Endyn IM - What's it built for?

When I decided to go all motor, I decided to work from the outside in. Since then, I've added the basic I/H/E, Fly, crank pulley, removed PS/AC. Now I've reached a point where I'm unsure if I want to continue my quest to let the motor breathe better from the outside, or if I should start on the inside sooner than planed? I ask because I'm looking into a new intake manifold, and being the blang blang stunna that I am (and have seen some impressive dynos), have settled on the Endyn CF Manifold for the ITR.

I know the endyn produces good gains when the motor is built, but what are the gains like on a stock internal motor? I'm going to buy it eventually anyway, but should I do internals first?

Start from the inside always! Make the big numbers first, then slowly add the finishing touches to get the rest of the power..

The endyn manifold is designed for big compression/displacement/rpm, 2.0L+ n/a setups..and for turbo setups.. I dont reccommend you use it on a stock b18c5.

Have you seen any dynos on a NA car? I know of one on a turbo car.

Ask DTR about the results of the IM. The powerband shifted higher in the RPM range approx 1000 rpm on the All Motor application. As fas as boost goes...... that manifold flexes sooo much on a N/A car I would be scared to use it on a boosted car. You just have to see it for yourself. It looks nice and it seems to work for N/A applications on the top end.

Carbon does not fatige fracture like aluminum or steel. It would be virtually impossible for it to fail due to that. If it holds the pressure (which it has aparently), then it always will. Aluminum will work harden and crack under flex at the welds. Composits will not. I would ask them what their warranty conditions are. you might be surprised.

what i/h/e do u have?

you might have room to improve on those sections

are u on hondata?

if you do get the AIR IM and tapered TB, then u will most likely need to get it tuned for your setup

I would rather have the aebs IM and have it polished and save 1k for doing more worthwhile stuff

for an extra 1k, u have get a full kick *** P&P job on a head, or a light job with new valves/springs and fresh headgasket and timing belt

with an aebs IM, ported head, better (flows better) springs/valves, and hondata to tune it, that will make way more power than buying just the AIR intake manifold

J's Racing Intake, DC JDM 4-1, Custom 2.5 exhaust...

No, no hondata fo me. Over winter I'll be tossing in a AEM EMS. AEBS manifold turned out to be tons of hype and like 3-4whp. I'll be getting headwork and new valvetrain anyway.

Hey mods, is there a reason why those posts were deleted? It seems like relevant info to me..? Man the politics and drama on this board is absolutely retarded. If there was actually a HALF-DECENT reason why the posts were deleted i'd love to hear it..

Maybe the first post could have been deleted but the second post of InnovativeHP had a few links, what's wrong w/ that?? Man, it seems like Larry has people covering for him..

-Mike

EDIT: Wow the mods just didn't delete all his posts, you also deleted the username.. If someone would like to send me the links that InnovativeHP posted I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

In those articles it seems like Larry is taking credit where it isn't due. Big surprise, eh?

So can I pose a serious question to the mods? How come Rick was banned for these posts? Btw, I'm no way affiliated w/ IB, but I don't see how he broke the forum rules?

It seems like all the people from IB get banned, and whenever things are said about Larry the thread is quickly locked or posts are sometimes deleted? I mean what gives..?

Like I said, the politics on this board seem to be getting out of hand. Rick wasn't even badmouthing anyone...?

Yea...

I've had my avatar option disabled and signature deleted since I'm affiliated with IB.

Oh well.

please explain why you are going to spend 1200 dollars on an intake manifold but have a shitty header?

you will make way more power with a smsp or hytech header with hondata compared to your header and the AIR IM.

you need to get a tuning program right now, because if you get a better intake manifold it will run alot leaner.

dont expect the AIR to make more power than the aebs with your mods. like I said earlier, u can polish the inside of the aebs for more power.

when are u geting headwork done?

Its been somewhat cleared up as you can see by my returned presence on this board and will be completely resolved by the end of today... hopefully... Rod, you should have full usage of your account shortly...

I had previously posted an extremely long informative post on the AIR IM and others on the market that was deleted earlier... I will try to recreate that post here shortly becasue I feel there was alot of good information to be shared within that post... So, give me a little time and Ill type it up again

You need to shitcan all of that stuff, pickup a SMSP Header and Full Exhaust, a true 3" Intake (As Simple as Possible) and a Hondata.

Get all of that tuned on a Dyno, and have fun.

he actually had a little bit more to do with it than most might think. and why dosnt Rick answer the million dollar question, if this IM is so much crap and BS, then why is IB trying to become a distributor? i thought you guys only used big power producing parts?

I never once said the IM was crap, never... my only issue from the get go has been cost... thast it, plain and simple... I just dont think its worth $1895... that is solely my opinion and I am more than entitled to that

IB decided against looking into becoming a distributor for AIR/Fiber Dynamics in efforts to further avoid any politics related back lash from what has already been a burning fued between ENDYN and IB...

We also felt that at that price you have the option of ITB's which for a NA motor is about as good as it gets... Those were pretty much all the factors in our decisions reguarding the AIR/Fiber Dynamics IM...

AIR/Fiber dynamics is an awesome company and there product is definitely a nice piece... the only thing they need to do is get the cost down and theyll have an Item they cant keep on the shelf

A good guy to talk to about this IM would be Brad from RLZ also known to this board as MAX_CFM... Brad specializes in IM design and fabrication with years of knowledge and experience under his belt in IM development... He can definitely shed some light on the does and donts of IM's...

I think the reason my post was deleted was becasue I stated that this was a product of AIR/Fiber Dynamics and not an ENDYN product... I was just informing people ENDYN is only a distributor...

Hopefully this cleared a few things up...

Rick

So actually how much did Larry actually contribute to the design of the AIR IM? Do you actually know?

Btw, the thing I wonder myself is if Larry was so successful in NASCAR etc. in the past, why did he ever stop porting heads for them, if he was that good..? I mean leaving NASCAR to do little import stuff is like going from being a Supreme court judge to a traffic court judge.

It seems quite clear to me.. either his work wasn't nearly as good as he claims it was, or he didn't make the brightest decision..? That would explain why he started doing imports..

prolly more money or more fun doing import heads. im guessing only a handful of head porters do all the nascar heads, or its done in house at the engine building places for each nascar team.

think of all the h-t users that want more power from getting a head ported vs the nascar teams. even if they charge 4k per head, and go through 10 heads in a season, doesnt compare to the demand of import stuff

and all heads are done with cnc machines now. just valve jobs are done by hand

OMG you have no idea of the money involved with the V8 industry... Its 10 times what the import industry is on its worst day... Keep in mind its not just NASCAR or NHRA these guys are doing heads for its the entire industry, the weekend warrior garage built guys running their 60's mustangs and camaros... for ever 5 raced out hondas in the world theres probably about 20 Domestics out there of the same stature on the other side of the spectrum... The V8 industry has 50+ years on the import industry, its huge... The money potential is alot higher there than it is in the import industry, way higher... The guys that get into Imports have their reasons, i know Brad from RLZ did it just to have some fun on the side... But to say its for a better opertunity to make money is a little hard to believe...

Just my $.04
