SSR Competition do 15x7 really weigh 8.8 lbs?
I was think of getting a set for road racing/auto-x and selling my O.Z. Supperleggera's 17x7! What do you guys think of them as far as quality? Do they really weigh 8.8 lbs for 15x7 like TireRack.com states?
The weight varies by offset and bolt-pattern. They generally state a weight range for 15x7, which varies by about two pounds if I remember correctly. If you call them they should give you a weight for your specific application. I would trust the number they give you.
I own two sets, but I've never had a chance to weigh them without tires.

Yeah...reading comprehension is a plus!
And for what it's worth, I'd have no problems with purchasing a set of the SSR Comps. They are a fine wheel.

I can also recommend them.
I have been runnning them on my Civic for well over a year now. They are great rims, very sturdy and light. They are lighter(with my street tires) then my Kosi K1 with my racing tires on them .

I've heard nothing but complaints about them bending for the 17 and 18 inch rims. I heard Turner Motorsports gave up using them this year cuz they bent too easily where they threw away about a dozen sets (I don't know how true it is).
Then I read all the responses to your post and it looked like they hold up well, so I did a quick search on AudiWorld and the first result shows a 15 inch bending:

Do a search with "bent" and "comps" and see what turns up.

If i were trying to sell you a $1200 set of wheels, i'd say the same thing too.

Yeah, that's true, but I've seen the strength of the SSR Comp wheel (at least in the 15" size) questioned in many forums and the people that actually own them responding that they have had no problems whatsoever. Reports of the wheels bending seem to be a very small minority.
I've seen bent Volks, bent Spoons, a ton of cracked Rotas, bent oem wheels, etc.
Any wheel will bend given a hard enough impact.

I have had my type C's for a year now and have hit quite a few potholes ...no bending or damage at all. Mine are 15x6.5 champion white http://www.speedstar.co.jp/col....html and are 3.91kg or 8.6lbs ... dont know if the competions weigh more or not...
