it should help if not cure it...

also is it a stock motor and tranny...if it is, it should help it out...

if its a swap check to see if there is a pin that connects the shifter to the tranny or if there is a bolt....

i'll ask how much a new one is at work... (work at a dealership, and get 10% over cost, lucky me ) but ill prolly get a poly. And yes, i swapped in a B16a2, so i have a pin (that was quite the pain in the *** to take out).

how much are the poly inserts?

I'd say get a poly bushing shifter kit. I did that as well as put in a short shifter and my play is nominal now. It made a big difference, it used to be bad.

How hard is it to install a short shifter? I assume "short shifter" is the same as a "short-throw shifter", right?

also, check to make sure there is no freeplay at the connection of the shift rod to the transmission knuckle linkage. there is a roll pin at this site that bonds the rod to the transmission side linkage knuckle. if this connection is not 100% solid snug, you will have sloppy shifting and excessive play while in gear.

Yeah no kidding. You MUST use the proper drift pin and c-clip FROM HONDA. A nut and bolt WILL NOT WORK. I had to wait a few days on this part... The shifting got REALLY sloppy and I was worried that the shift rod was going to fall out of the transmission knuckle while I was going 100 miles per hour, catch the ground and wedge, ram the shift rod and shifter assembly up through the car, and impale me.
