how can you register a 98 car with a 96 motor? Just wondering this is important to the person how buys the car.

Isn't there some kind of law about not being able to have an engine older than the chassis? I don't know, I've heard this many times tho.

I am not familiar with this law. I have had this swap done for a year and have had it inspected with no issues. They passed me without a question.

Who would know what year the motor is??? This is a jdm motor. It is a Honda motor in a Honda car. No one would investigate this any further in my opinion. If they did , it doesn't have a US VIN on the motor to research...

I figured I would add that the motor and the car are both OBD2a

This varies by state, and county. In NC, the only issue would be when certain counties start doing ODB2 testing. Maybe they already have. Both the car and engine are ODB2 so the only issue would be that you would have to be running an ODB2 ECU to pass inspection.
