Default Regarding our trannies???

This topic has come straight from my post https://honda-tech.com/zero...age=1, I would like to see what everyone thinks about this.

I already know Willards thougths, what about yours?

The dealer claims that a pressure plate that has a strong spring/ clamping force can damage the first input bearing like mine, it is so strong that it bends/ moves the bearing just enough to mess up the bearing everytime the clutch pedal is pressed.

Can this thought- statement hold water?

(And I have the ACT XT-SS with comptech FW- no other power mods or tranny mods)

That doesn't make any sense whatsoever. At least to me and my limited understanding of Honda hydro transmissions.

[flywheel] = [clutch disc] = [pressure plate] = [throw out bearing + fork] = [bellhousing]

* = <---input shaft.

The input shaft is splined and touching the clutch disc and not the preesure plate. The pressure plate just pushes "in" to release the clutch disc from the flywheel/pressure plate so that power is not being transmitted via the input shaft.

I can understand that maybe the bearing could go bad if the input shaft is put in at a slight "angle" and perhaps the clutch disc is slightly out of alignment but I can't see how the pressure plate has any bearing (excuse the pun) on this matter.

I'd want to call BS also. The only thing the Tranny is attached to is the clutch disc in that setup. The clutch just SLIDES the disk along the mainshaft until it has enough friction with the flywheel to engage. NOTHING moves, just that silly disc.

Btw, the flywheel does push against the first bearing. What is the force of the throw out bearing suppost to act against?? But still sounds like BS to clamn that is what cause the bearing to go out.

EDIT: My bad, the first bearing i'm talkinga about is on the motor, so it would effect that, but nothing in the tranny would be effected. on me.

At the dealership that I work at, we do warranty parts even if you have aftermarket parts.(i.e. i/h/e, wheels) but if you have an extended warranty its up to the extended warranty company to deside whether or not to pay for the repairs. Most of the time you do have to pay for teardown for extended warranty companys. If the dealer sees that there is an aftermarket clutch and FW, then they will not warranty any thing that has to do w/ the trany. All they have to say is you could of broke something when you had the trany out. Its the same way if you put spring on your factory struts, then going to the dealer and telling them that your struts are bad. This is just my two cents.
