Default car wants to stall when coming to a stop

just like the title says, when ever im about to stop in neutral, the cars revs drop to what seems like 150-200 rpms.

this also happens when i start to pump on the brakes.

is it just the idle, or is there more to it?

thanks!

Sounds like a vacuum leak

always best to start with the small things. Like the guy above said, start with your vacuum lines and check all hoses and fittings for leaks. Thats the most likely cause. Also check your spark plugs and fuel filter to make sure they are in good working order while you are checking everything else.

Any recomendations on how to check for vacuum leaks other than with your ears and hands?

I've had the same problem. What year is your car? I have a '99 Civic EX and mine was doing the same thing. What I did to fix it was...

- Took the IACV off and cleaned it out with some brake/carb cleaner
- Took my intake tube off and cleaned off the butterfly on my TB
- Fiddled with the idle screw
- Cleaned my air filter

...your IACV is on the back of your intake manifold. Should be 2 or 3 12mm or 14mm bolts to remove it. It's not hard to get to and it's real easy to remove and clean. Do this and let me know if it fixed your problem.

Well I suppose if your oil was leaking out like crazy, your idle would slow down until your bearings seize up

my car had that problem, you might want to restart your ecu, or check your pcv valve. In my case it was the pcv valve
