cable vs hydro tranny
i have a 89 hatch with a 92 jdm vti vtec motor, i am havin probs ith tranny's to run,, 88-91 si is cable and92-95 is hrdro,.. all usdm?? right or worng, i thought 88-95 usdm were all cable? i want cable not hyrdo, cuss dont wanna spend extra money on that stuff to run hydro.. help me out
all 88-89 civic's are cable. Everything after 92 is hydro. you cant use a 92+ sohc tranny into a 4th gen without makeing custom mounts which i would not reccomend.
hey whats up like he was sayin 88-91 civic/integras are all cable and 92 are hydro but itsbetterto have a hydro because of the synchros in the cable trannies wear out faster causing it to grind like crazy and that jdm trannies arent rebuildable excep for ys-1 or gsr usdm tranny

Or you can use any b series cable tranny s1/j1/y1 b16 trannys or the 92-93 ys1.
the main benefit of the hydro tranny would be condition, since all the cable trannys are about 15 years old and who knows whut they have been through. and the majority of the b16 cable trannys out there that are sold seperately have the infamous 2nd and 3rd gear grind.</TD></TR></TABLE>
actually he has no option according to you. sense you obv didn't know that a jdm civic vti motor is a sohc. also there is currently no mount kit which will allow you to bolt a sohc hydro tranny into a ef.
his only option would be to use a usdm civic si tranny from 89-91
or the jdm zc tranny which would be your best way to go.
the zc tranny has equal length axle's which reduces wheel hop and torque steer and when you order it some came with an LSD so ask them if they have any (you can tell them apart by looking through where the axel goes in if you can see through it its a non LSD)(you want the one you cant see through)(they are kinda hard to find)
try jdmhondaparts.com (not sure if thats even the site) i think they sell zc tranny's make sure you get the intermediate shaft. you will also need d16a1 integra axle's or you can use the zc axle's if you can manage to score some somewhere.
