98 Civic project started...
I bought it for $2200 from a friend who owns a salvage yard. The parts needed to fix it are coming off another 98 coupe that was abandoned at an impound lot, so it cannot be titled. I have a D16Y8 that came in a few days ago that I'm going to tear apart this weekend, then send the head and block out to be built up. My plan is to run a T3 or T3/T4 turbo setup, not sure of all the details yet. I hope to have it running by spring. Any suggestions as to what color I should paint it?

Yeah the bodywork is being handled by the guy who owns the salvage yard, he owns a bodyshop too. The block and head are being sent to McQuillen Race Engines in LeRoy NY. The rest of the work I'll be doing in my garage on the weekends between now and the spring.

Yup, frame damage is not your friend.

No it can't be. The person who owned the car never claimed it at the impound lot, so they still have the title for it. The frame is ok also, just a lot the front end is torn up, but apparently it can be fixed.

I know this is not a good idea most of the time, but if you change all of the Vin nos. over wont it be like the donor car is actually the silver car??
Yeah we joked about that. Thats the first thing I thought of. He said that he wouldn't do that, seeing as he didn't want to put his *** on the line for a Civic.

Fair enough. Honestly, frame damage would steer me away from any car, especially one as dime a dozen as a Civic.

All said and done, with the issues you'll run in to with the condition that front clip is in, it would have been more worth your while to switch the entire front clips over. Pop the spot welds and go to town. Seam weld it all for more stength, y0!

Yeah, he said that there is nothing damaged that can't easily be repaired. If there was damage to the frame, I would stay away from it.
