Default I hate thieves

Well, my story is not nearly as bad as most of the ones that I've read on here. I've had my car broken into and my stereo stolen TWICE in the span of one month. Should I even bother getting another one? I'm thinking about just permanently attaching the stereo through a process of screws/welding and never leaving my face plate in the car. I hid my faceplate up inside my steering column and they STILL found it. It was a cheap *** old Kenwood mp3 player too, not even worth that much money. Is there anything I can do to protect against someone stealing my stereo? I guess they're just doing the window bending technique.. are they just going to hack my dash to pieces once they break into my car and get frustrated that they can't simply yank my stereo out once I weld it in place?

Where is your car being broken into?

Avoid shady places, and if it's at your house, get an alarm with a pager, and when you sleep, put the pager by your ear.

When the alarm goes off, wake up the fam and be prepared for *** beating.

In front of my house, and I live in what I thought was a relatively decent neighborhood.. two blocks from a damn high school though. Maybe I should just get an alarm, but my car has 100K on it and I'm not really sure if I can drop $500 on a new stereo and alarm. I think I might try this welding method and never leave the face plate in the car... that way they'll just be like ah forget it, this is too much damn work for a $150 circuit city stereo. Or they could get mad and *** rape my dash.. then I'd really be screwed.

I had my Civic broken into 3 times this year in the span of 2 months, the last radio they took was a stock Honda tape deck! whats worse is this happened in the company parking garage!

So ya... they can keep taking OEM headunits, I'll just keep getting them for 10.00 on ebay.

Well, if you are worried that much, then I would get something OE. Like an ITR or 99-00 Civic Si CD player.

Those are mainly the good ones that look good, and to theives they are nothing good.

Yeah, I still have my OEM CD player. Maybe it's time to revert. It sucks because I sold all of my audio CDs and I love the convenience of putting like 10 albums on a CD.. but maybe those days are gone. What do you guys think about welding/screwing the deck into the dash so it can not be removed without spending a lot of time completely destroying everything to get it out? Would they just say f*ck it?

Just leave a note on your car that you never replaced the last one that was stolen, so there's nothing else to steal.

Get an alarm coz if your car gets broken into next time and they cant steal the deck they might do something more stupid like thrashing the complete car.

Or mount it a little deep and get a piece of styrofoam then paint it to look like a hole... Seen a couple of those, and if you paint it well it'll look empty through a window... Even better if you've got your windows tinted.
