What relay is this???



The car is a 1996 EK Sedan with central lock.

 

where was the relay located?? ive never seen one of those before in any civic..

 

It is located on the platic piece under the steeringwheel.

I thing it is some thing with the Immobilizer

 

It's located on the steering column?

Doesn't look OE Honda to me..

Looks like something aftermarket, perhaps security wise..

 

Down in the left corner it stands:

RF=125kHz

 

Doesn't say much...

96 EK's do not have an immobilizer unless its something aftermarket installed..

In europe they got Immobilizer, the chip is in the key.

 

That looks like the doorlock control unit that belongs in the driver's side door if you have power locks. It controls doorlock solenoid operation. RF means Radio Frequency so it may have something to do also with your Keyless Entry, which makes sense if it's the doorlock control module, if you have keyless entry. Also, it says Honda Lock Mfg Co. on it. Maybe it is under the dash on European edition cars? What's the story behind this?

Edit: Oh I see, it's mounted on the kneepanel on the driver's side? It's the radio reciever and control for keyless entry.

 

I dont have Keyless entry. When I plug off the cabel, car wont start.
I just wonder what it is and why, there is a Radio Frequency on it.

When car has keyless entry in europe, the remote controll is IR(infra red). And not RF.

 

Maybe a security control unit?

thats new... never heard that before

are there any buttons on it? looks like the box that integras have for the maintance required light

 

no buttons

 

Maybe you have keyless entry and you don't know it because you don't have a key fob.

Maybe its a tracking device put into your car by the gov. so that aliens can track you down and take you away into the depts of outer-space and do some kind of butt surgery on you.

Seriously i have no idea i have never seen that before

something is it anyway

 

Disconnect it and see if anythig dosn't work if something dosn't work than that is what it is

 

the will not start when i disconect it.
