DC sports 4-1 d-series ceramic header Owners **ATTN**
OK fellas, I think i have a leak in my header because there is a prominant ticking sound comming from my engine bay. Its not that noticable at idle but when you rev it up to about 3k rpm's, you can hear it clearly tick tick tick tick tick or tapping in other words. Also I came to this conclusion because, if i set my climate control to Fresh instead of Recirculated air, it stinks like exhaust fumes. I've heard that DC 4-1 headers (the early production) are prone to cracks near the o2 sensor. Has anybody had this same situation before with their DC header? I'm thinking about just pulling the header off and slapping my stock manifold back on, but if i can get an idea of where this crack is prone to emerge, I can locate it and have a muffler shop weld it instead. There's gotta be some members out there with this problem as well... anybody?
Check all the welds, I'm betting there's a hairline crack in one of those places.
You can test it by sealing up the header ports and pressurize it with some air, and throw some soap water on it. The bubbles will indicate where the leak is. (Kinda like how you find a leak in a tire) Same concept.

my 4-1 actually broke where the 4 meets the 1. the crack was almost all the way around, so i had my buddies dad re-weld it. works ok for now, but i dont want it anymore. its starting to rust badly, and i just know itll crack again.
I don't think it's your header... it could possibly be your clutch slipping when you get on the gas really hard. It's happened to 2 cars in my club so far, they checked the header, and their was no leaks... then someone suggested changing the clutch, so they did... and it stopped ticking...
Sounded kinda like the tires were breaking loose almost... Sounded like a pressure cooker, except a little faster right?? Tsh Tsh Tsh kinda noise? But really quick?

thats what it sounds like. I'm planning on changing the clutch when i find another tranny anyways. so if it was the clutch, it would be fixed. The problem is the header because it stinks like exhaust fumes while the climate control is on fresh (durring idle with windows rolled up with no other cars around).
