so i'm burning lots of oil and trying to pinpoint the problem, the compression #'s seem good to me, from looking at this does it tell you any obvious problems???
cyl #1 232 leakdown 12%
cyl #2 225 18%
cyl #3 244 10%
cyl #4 232 12%
the bottom end is stock and the motor has 120k on it.

When you did the leakdown test where was the air going? How much oil are you burning.

Believe it or not those numbers aren't half bad. The only thing I would be concerned about is #2.

Turn the air pressure down to about 40% and check the whole cylinder through out the stroke. You may have worn or scard cylinder walls.

 

Yeah, i know it isnt that bad. but i'm burning a quart every 300 miles!!!! we did the leakdown test at 40psi

 

Those numbers are what Id expect from a motor with 120k miles. looks fine.

 

that is an option, but not at $5 a quart for mobil 1. the oil does come out pretty dirty last time i pulled of the valve cover there wasnt any type of residue.

 

time for a rebuild
