These guys actually get out and race. Unfortunately, the majority of the saturn ownership is young, stupid, easily impressionable, and driven by "street performance" and bling. And most of the products on the market are substandard. And there's a wealth of mis-information floating around the internet among the owners.

I'll have to see if i got some pics of the saturn at my sponsors shop saturday night (where we were doing a last minute timing belt replacement on the race car, too bad a timing belt couldn't save my bumper/hood/windshield on sunday, sigh). So anyway, covering a good 75% of the front window on this guys car was a decal/sticker logo that said "THE UNTOUCHABLES RACING KREW" or something ghey like that. This car brought new meaning to the word hideous. He was parked to his other Untouchables buddy's 2nd gen Integra that had a park bench for a rear spoiler, and negative 5 inches of fender gap. It was so raw I just had to break out the video camera and get it on film- funny thing is, i think the owner thought i was filming them because i thought they were so elite.

I think that's true for just about any car on the market.

This, however, is an experience unique to the American-brand sport compact car owner. It's all the same for the Neon and Cavalier/Sunfire. Except on the rare occasion that factory engineers put in the effort to make them fast, few people bother to put in the research into proper development and tuning. This closes off a lot of racers from potentially advantageous platforms, either in low cost or in high performance.

Hey I own both, gen2 was gonna be a project but ditched that(paid 500 so no biggie) and I have a saturn as a daily driver (keeps me out of trouble and is light on the pocket)
