Default b20/ls guru's

hello, haven't posted here in a LONG time but i'm an avid reader,

currently have a b18a and i want to give the motor a little more spice
motors stock right now as it mostly has a suspension setup

looking for a budget setup, need some info as the if the parts i'm putting together are going to work well together

b20z
homemade intake 2.5 inch piping
trust 421 header
carsound 2.25 hfcat
custom 2.25 inch exhaust piping to cheap ebay n1 exhaust
also would like to bore tb but not sure what mm would complement the setup

i didn't really care for the exhaust since i was going to spraypaint it black, one of the questions i have is should i be using 2.5 inch piping for exhaust or stick with the 2.25

keep in mind this is going to be in a autox car as i'm looking for a little more torque

also, would it be wise if i didn't use a trust header and optted or a dc cc 421, couple hundred dollar difference for the header

would like to save money where i can and spend on tires =o)

opinions/comments needed =o)

thank you

go with atleast a dc jdm 4-1, that should be a lil better

what are your goals for this motor? i dont know if it would be worth it for you to even go with a b20z, you can save that money and just mod your b18a..what cams are you putting into this???

alot of the shelf headers are to small/not engineered for the B20, or for 2l displacement for that matter. I really didn't think much of it untill I saw what a properly engineered header could do on a 2l motor. Definately use 2.5" exhaust. The 2l motor flows air really well, and you'll need to take advantage of that. I really hate DC so I'm limited as to what I can say about them, I don't want to be overly biased in my comments here.

the goal was just to make my motor a little bit more torquey, i have no cams in mind. nor am i planning to build ls/vtec or that such

i should of stated it better, i want to use a b20 longblock

2.5 inch exhaust sounds good, i guess i'll aim for that

now the header, i'm kinda lost when it comes to the header, not sure what would compliment the b20

ideas? opinions?

whats your budget on the header? if money isnt an issue id say go with SMSP or HYTECH. they can custom make you a header for a 2l motor that will outperform any off the shelf header you can buy. but they are costly and you have there is a wait for them to be made.

3-400 cdn
not that much, probably try and find something used but i doubt i can afford a custom made 2L header

its a b18a remember, not crvtec can't splurge! hehe

my shop agrees with JDM D-C 4 to 1 for the money. DHR and Hytech are great custom headers, but for use with no exhuast and hella expensive. if you want a custom header for a little less go to 10-94.com around $550, but i beleive it is for use with no exhaust and possibly A/C, which is fine for me in the winter, bu hell no in the summer. If you haven't driven a CRVtec/B20Vtec you are in for a suprise when it comes to torque. I can chirp in fourth and have serious trouble off the line and in second(bouncing all around), since I just got mine back.
