Default ARRC 2003-All the Cool People Will Be There

Road Atlanta. Nov 7-9.
THE Improved Touring race of the year. Most of the best drivers in the country will be there.

All of the races are fantastic, always are. Spec Miata and ITC are typically ridiculous with bump drafting packs and multiple lead changes on each lap. This event is highly recommended.

Alex
Adam
Walt
Bowie Jr?
Me

Any other H-Ters competing this year?

<sigh> Unfortunately, I will not be racing at the ARRC this year as planned. I'm having back surgery (blown L5 disk) Wednesday, October 29th so that's that. But, I'm going to make every effort to make it down as a spectator (for the 2nd year in a row, argh!). So hopefully after a week of healing, I'll be comfortable enough to drive down and just hangout.

Go CENDIV!

Let me know if you come down Kevin. I'd like to meet you and show you the new ITC beastie.
Also keep me informed on the lumbar procedure. I have blown L4 and L5 and will be getting surgically invaded in the near future myself. I'm not looking forward to having a scalpel or laser anywhere near my spinal cord, but I have to do something. It's getting worse and worse.

Scott, wearing a lumbar support right this very minute.

I am 100%, definitely, not going to miss it, can't wait going to be there!!!!

I leave to go to NC at 4am tomorrow to put the motor back together/in from the blow-up, and then it will be on!

I might even get to run the test day, wonder of wonders.

Do not even speak to Karl Shultz for the next 2 weeks.

We'll all open your hood on Wednesday evening, hold hands, and focus positive energy towards your motor.

PS - You did note that phatty laid waste to ITA at VIR this weekend???

It should be one heck of a weekend to both drive and spectate. The SM, ITA, and ITC races should just plain be off the hook.

Unfortunately I will not be able to make it, thus only the second ARRC I've missed since 1995. They have again scheduled it on the closing weekend of the SEMA automotive trade show that I have to work at.

The KONI service trailer will be at the ARRC so stop in and say Hi to Gordon and Paul. They will be able to do some KONI shock and dyno services on site with a little bit of notice.

If you are racing in the ARRC championship sprint races, be sure to sign up for the KONI contingency as it pays out to the top three highest finishing cars using KONIs and not just to podium finishers like most other contingencies. This is the highest dollar value contingency program at the ARRC.

Highest finishing car on KONIs- 4 free shock rebuild/revalves and 4 free dyno tests
2nd highest finishers- 2 free shock rebuild/revalves and 4 free dyno tests
3rd highest finisher- 4 free dyno tests

So if you finish dead f last and are the only guy who signed up, you still get the top prize.

Thanks again for all your help setting Blake, Tom and I up with pimpy new Konis for the ARRC Lee. We'll do our best to bring home some trophies .

PS - Do the shocks you're building for me right now count as my contingency if we win ?

I also have a herniated L4 and L5, how bad are you guys? I've been through therapy and chripractor and nothing has worked. All my doctors tell me I'm too young to risk surgery.

Anyway, sorry for the OT, good luck to all honda-techers racing. Hopefully you'll come back home with some good stories to post up for us.

how bad are you guys?

Bad. 4 times in the past two years I've moved the wrong way and ended up unable to walk for about a week. It takes about a month to fully recover.

I've been through therapy and chripractor and nothing has worked

Ditto

All my doctors tell me I'm too young to risk surgery.

Mine did too at first. Now the top specialist is thinking that we need to do something proactive. The last "episode" was triggered by me simply bending over to put chlorine in the pool. I wasn't even lifting anything.

It sucks ***.

Wow, exactly the same situation as me. Everyone close to me never lets me lift anything heavy, but I work out every other night, and i can handle weight. I bent over to pet my dog one day and I was laying face down in my bed for a week unable to change positions in less than 20 minutes. I'm done messing with your post now though, let me know if you go through with the surgery.

I'm sure to be at the ARRC since I am on the committee and keep the website up. Won't be racing, but I think we'll have the "for sale" ITS Prelude there on a trailer for everyone to view. Someone please buy this thing....

FYI.
The Ground Control guys will be there for practice and qualifying, to help with car setup. If anybody needs anything, please call ahead.
This will make it every year (including the first year in Topeka) that GC has shown up, sometimes to race, sometimes to support.

Scott, I will certainly let you know if I make it down - I want to check out your car. I'm sure the ITA, ITC, and SM races are going to be great. I've really got to see SM "grow up" at the ARRC the last two years and they've both been amazing!

I'll send you a PM about my back.

On the subject of HTers going there ...

Not sure if he will but IIRC Scott S. at some point was hoping to bring his GS-R up to play. I am pretty certain Mr. LTB will be there in his VW.

Just got some bad news, the KONI Service trailer will not be at the ARRC as there was a change of plans. The trailer and one person are needed for another important project (NYC transit buses of all things).

The Contingency program will continue as normal and KONI Tech Guy and SCCA racer Gordon Benson will be there Friday and Saturday to oversee the program and work with racers if you would like help.
