Thank you, NHRA.

I am still confused myself.
I received my NHRA license last night, in the mail...and thus desired to put on a good show for Sunday.
After my 1st shakedown pass with Larry Kelley, I was told at the timeslip booth that I was DQ'd for my vehicle being too low: claiming that I flickered the staging lights, and stage with my bumper.
I had officials come to my vehicle and measure properly. After visiting the tower to clear up the issue, I was told that it was the staging official's call to the tower..and that it was FINAL!
You may find this interesting:
1. That round with me, Mr. Kelly was underweight..and was allowed to progress, due to me being DQ'd the the staging official's "eye balling" of my bumper.
2. Other pro cars behind me had the same flickering/redlight problem in the right lane, and were allowed to re-run, when this became obvious. I was not given this luxury.
I am yet to understand the rationale behind this. I had all of my ducks in a row to prevent any problems this weekend, and even ran over weight significantly. I even had my chassis certified before the event: to no avail!

That sucks Bisi, you were running some good times too and they went and did that. They should've at least gave you a re-run like everyone else. Hopefully they learn to give everyone that fair chance instead of just some people...better luck next time
Can't wait to see you tap 9's too

in woodburn mr ken sheepers ran underweight also and was allowed to progress too bisi. u might find that interesting. i believe it was the first round where he once again ran underweight but he did get DQed against heather oconner i believe.
Damnit, that just blows. Do you have any other recourse Bisi? Not that it will do much good once the racing continues, but that's wrong. Your car passes an official measurement, but Kelley gets to go on while underweight (also a DQ violation)?
Also, was this your first NHRA event Bisi? Seems to be a theme...

isn't it funny how they set a ride height rule and low and behold some bloke "eye ***** 3"s". I would have got in my car and made my way to the stagging lanes and kept pressing forward.....untill you were demanded a run......i dont know i was not there.......take them to court. i am sure you have a legitimate claim
how could it be final if your car was measured, I am very sorry, in those situations you have to get the head of nhra's attention.... hell lay down in front of the burnout box... Jason

Sorry it had to come down to that kind of call Bisi. You did prove that your car can run in nhra very well(for all those who said it was soooooooo light).
Hope to see you out east next year.

i can not believe this but then again i can!
i would have still went to the lanes and tried to run. You did qualify with one undisputed run didn't you?
People ran underweight and the runs counted at more then one event? is this true? That's so wrong. Underweight-DQ'D.
sounds total bullshit to me. Welcome to the NHRA trying to keep you down club!!!

oh yeah-just as all other negative NHRA threads around here-this will probably dissapear. what's up with that?
Let's see where this goes.
all racers should insure rules are enforced equally and fairly for everyone. when you see stuff as this happen you should stand by the racer who was wronged-not turn a blind eye.

Shawn, this was my 2nd NHRA event.
I thrive on improving myself, and learning from mistakes. This includes, but is not limited to, taking criticism constructively. I fail to see any learnings for this most recent series of events.

That's mess up Bisi, they should have at least measured it with a tape measure for the final call

What I mean Bisi is that it seems a lot of first time runners with the NHRA seem to run into problems with the NHRA officials. The first time I got a chance to see it happen to one of my customers was when Norman ran in Las Vegas. While some of the official's issues with his car were legit, others were not and they gave him unnecessary hassle - it seemed personal.
In this case, if I understand it right, you qualified legally and went to the first round of eliminations where you proceeded to beat Larry K. (a nice guy by the way, the Kelley's are good people)
But because the staging lights flickered as you staged, you were DQ'd _after_ the run, but Larry K., despite being underweight, was allowed to continue on?
You then proceeded to have the car measured by an NHRA official and it passed with no problem.
At which point you were told that the decision of the tower was final and you were out.
Do I have that straight? Because if I do, the NHRA needs to do some explaining, or someone needs to point out the section of the rulebook that deals with this.

disclaimer - Bisi is a customer of mine, so I do have a bias in this case.

We redlight in the first round as well. We however were not allowed to rerun like may others. I watched the video tape a million times after I got home and there is no way I redlight. I think they had a huge problem with the tree and lights and I feel bad for you Bisi as I know how it felt when I got the redlight. Its my first in 2 years!!!
You guys got hosed! We noticed that they were having problems with the tree. Some officials were checking the staging lights with their feet. The officials did not exactly handle the whole day well.

Yes it is too bad some of the outcomes. Bisi I am sorry to hear that!! The officials should be able to recall a call. You beat him(kelley) they made a mistake(official) Sorry Kelley, Bisi actually won this one. You will show them next time!!
As for the Laskey story, that was a little strange as well, it's really too bad.
I am not sure the reasoning behind some of these odd calls this weekend but with the fires in every direction and everyone breathing in all that ash then you add a little dash of strange occurrences with all the mishaps with the racers and their cars seems a little weird.
