Just venting a little. Im a college student, fortunate enough to afford a car and bike. For what I pay a month, I don't find myself enjoying riding as I used to. With my conflicting schedules, I ever have any time to ride. Anyone else ever get like this?
No. Usuaully the reason people that get "sick" of their bikes and sell it, is because they buy the wrong bike for their first bike, crash and usually get hurt then just decide to stop.
Sometimes, but that only happens when I am not riding it. All I need to do is take it out and those feelings wash away.
I would imagine if you get sick of your bike, you bought the wrong bike or bought one for the wrong reasons.
Cheers,
Roy

Naw I didnt get the wrong first bike, love it, would love to get a newer/bigger, but its just not needed. Thanks for your input guys.
I feel like that. I'm over the "ride just to cruise" phase. Now when I ride, it's usually from point A to point B. I'll go to the canyons, then home. I'll go out to stunt with my friends, then home. I'll go to bike night, then home. I usually don't do the "so where we gonna to ride to" rides anymore (unless I'm helping a rookie friend get some saddle time around town). It's too boring for me.
I feel like I could use a change or go up to a bigger bike, but then I realize that the extra power or something else is either a temporary fix or a reason to be stupid (like stunting)... my F4i is great, runs like a top, handles well, and is comfortable around town...
I ride predominately for enjoyment of the sport... not to show off, not to stunt, not to race.... so i guess that keeps me from losing interest

Actually, what really makes me sick of my bike is when it craps out on me. Like last Thursday, when after a canyon run my bike dies at a stopsign. I didn't even stall it! Just completely died. Almost started-up after 15 minutes. Ended up towing it to a shop and they said it's either the battery (for the THIRD time!!) or the alternator (I hope not...that'd cost me $250!). Times like these I get down or feel like it's time to get rid of my bike, but all it takes is throwing my leg over my bike when I get her back and going for another canyon run, and all those feelings are gone. Just be patient. Think of all the hard work and time (and money) you've invested! Eventually you'll have time to ride.
If you're really strapped for cash (I remember college), then by all means sell the bike. Take care of what's important first, then you can worry about not having enough time to ride.

I call it stupid because I don't see the point of destroying a $8-10000 motorcycle to show off BMX trix....
That's stupid.
When you can do a stoppie in your civic, let me know.
BTW- I'd never buy your TLR now because I'm sure you've been a squid on it and the bike probably needs more work than it's worth.....

Or have enough sense not to.
I don't consider it stupid, it looks like it would be fun. I do however consider it stupid for people to think that stunting is a show of a riders abilities.

Didnt want to start a debate over stunting here. Me personally, I find just riding around boring, and (see sig), I'm a stunter, mostly bc of my accident. Of course, there is a time and place for everything
I do, only because my bike isnt in mint condition. The tank has a dent....all my fairings except for tail is scratched. Once I get a paint job and tune up I'll be pretty happy with it. Either that or sell my bike and pick up my friends VFR400

You're sounding a little ignorant. It's like me saying "why do people cut up their $8-10000 civic and put another $10K in the motor just to run 10 secs in a 1/4 and blow the motor to pieces?"

Because running 10 seconds in a 2000lb car with a 4 cylinder engine gains respect.
Doing a stoppie on a 400lb bike doesn't.
Now if you said, why do people put $10,000 into a civic just to drag race and win a 13 second time slip, I'd say they're ignorant and stupid. Because they could have done it for a lot less.
I personally drag knees. WHY?? Because that's what a sport bike was designed for. Going fast in a straight line and/or in a corner. I wear all the proper gear (unlike 99% of the stunters I see) and I make sure my bike is in top shape before heading out and enjoying myself.
ME- Responsible rider
SQUIDS- Irresponsible rider
Understand the difference?

Stunting isnt stupid. There's just a time and a place for everything and it just happens that many stunters usually choose the wrong place and time for it.
I didn't mean to start a debate on stunting. I should have used the word "dangerous" instead of stupid. Everyone knows the risks with stunting are much greater. My bike is in mint condition and I plan to keep it that way. I do practice wheelies and stoppies but my learning curve is very slow. I could probably learn alot quicker if I went crazier but the risk of dropping the bike doens't appeal to me. Burning $120 tire off isnt fun in my opinion either since I don't have money to blow for a new one. Stunting is stunting but the majority of people either A. dump their bike and get hurt, or B. dump their bike and its value goes to hardly anything

Fairings? What are those?
jk, lost mine a whilw ago, after the wreck and multiple drops. Ideal situation would be this: mint bike: New Honda 1000RR and keep my gixxer for stunting.

hey aobut the stunting vs tricking out your car...to each their own...I ahve more fun turning my car back to stock after 5 years of messing with it, its like...wow....it really used to be like this???.....I am almost thinking about picking up an unmolsted teg to add to my very poorly molested one....who would have thought that...as for stunting... hey different strokes etc...no one person has the rihgt to say stunting/tuning is right/wrong...so leave it alone, and up to the rider/tuner.....
back to topic....yeah, I have only been riding for about 4 months, but I can see how it can get kinda boring if you dont have anyplace to go....BUT even though its only in the upper 30's/lower 40's and dark at 6 (I dont feel so comfortable riding at night yet) I still refuse to put my bike in the garage just yet.....

Stunting and tricking a car out isn't a good comparison... you can't die working on a car unless you somehow drop and engine on yourself or the car blows up. The danger factor is the difference, and yes some like the danger, but most of us don't like to see people die. I encourage people to watch the sbfreaks video tribute to their friend that died stunting. I think he dumped a wheelie at around 100 or so.

With all do respect, I drag knee too, but I don't see any reason why it would make me less of a squid than a stunter who pops a wheelie. Going thru a turn at 100+mph is just as stupid as being on the back wheel at 65mph. In both cases, you're putting yourself at risk of getting hurt or even dying. I, personally, hear of more people crashing (and sad to say... dying
) in the canyons than people getting seriously hurt stunting.
As for the comparison to cars, do you think Honda initially had 10 sec. 1/4 mile times in mind when they developed the Civic??? I highly doubt it. They were probably more inclined to getting better MPG's than HP's. It was only thru the progression of a sport that allowed many Civics to make 10 sec passes day in and day out. So whether you drag race, auto-X, or show hoe the Civic, you probably started from the same foundation, a car that was intended to make 40MPG, not 400whp.

Whatever you call yourself...we all share the same passion of riding on two wheels. Don't hate!

Knee dragging on a canyon at 100 is just as stupid as stunting in my opinion, if not worse... msf empasizes know the roads you ride on... if i am in a blind turn too fast and dont' know whats ahead, then its potentially worse. High speed turns can fall victim to lack of skill, hitting dirt/oil on the road, someone coming into your lane and killing you, etc... I agree that to each his and do what you want to do, but everyone needs to consider all the facts when doing this stuff. I can ride safe and avoid almost 100% of accidents when canyon carving. If you want to knee drag go to the track, if you want to stunt, do it in an enclosed area. Stay safe and happy riding.
